Guest guest
>From Swamiji's Chandi class the other night: Ch. 1, verse 87: "bodascha kriya taamasya hantu metau mahaasurau." "Let him conquer these two great thoughts for me and beget Wisdom." Swamiji tells us that Brahma's request to the Divine Mother (in the form of yoganidra) at the end of his song is for "bodas(h)"--related to, or from the same root as "buddhi", which is intellect, but is a broad term for Wisdom--far beyond intellect. That is, with this bodash, I will know how to live my life; with buddhi lakshyana--the goal of my intellect, we make the definition of our highest ideal of perfection, our dharmic goal--we ask ourselves, "what is the highest and best use of this tool, this buddhi? What is the best way we can employ the tool of this buddhi?"--this is bodas(h). In conquering too much and too little, true wisdom is born. Swamiji said that we ask, "Beget the buddhi so that I am a bodhi." One to chew on. Love, Nitya
