Guest guest
Namaste, Everyone Happy Hanuman's Day Tuesday is one of the days we remember and celebrate Hanuman Om ham hanumate rudraatmakaaya hum phat svaahaa Om we bow to The Highest Principle, to Hanuman, the manifestation of the Reliever of Sufferings, Cut the Ego! Purify! I am One with God! If you do not do Hanuman puja at this time, you still might want to read the puja through in English. Hanuman is God's perfect servant, and he is a manifestation of Rudra, the Reliever of Sufferings. The mantra requests the ego be cut and we be purified, and proclaims Oneness with God Can you see the connection? In the perfection of this selfless service lies the release from sufferings and the cutting of the ego, and there lies purity. Hanuman on my altar is holding open his heart, and inside are Ram and Sita, his All. When we fill our hearts with the perfection of unconditional love, all suffering is relieved. That is how Hanuman is Strength, there is nothing stronger. Bajarangbali ki jai! Nitya
Guest guest
Jai Hanuman, Birthday coming up: April 4th...Hanuman Jayanti...also a full moon that day...very auspicious! Swamiji, do you happen to know about the Hanuman Yantra? I have the form...in fact a couple of them, both with 8 petal lotus and different bhupuras...but, I can find no information about color of bhupura or central circle...one of the yantras has, also, a dvivalya....I am figuring that the colors would be close to Durga Yantra...oranges and reds, because of Hanuman's nature, but I'm not at all sure (especially since I once saw one of these yantras and the colors were red, white and blue!!!..but it was in a Western context so I wasn't sure about its accuracy). I am hoping to begin a yantra practice with puja leading up to his birthday...I am "planning" to make a pancha-mukhi Hanuman in the center (where the bindu is). Any information??? I'd love ANY information about Hanuman...I have the puja CD and book (thanks, Swamiji). Could you suggest any books about color relating to yantras? I have the Madhu Kanna book and some others...the color infomation, though, is difficult to find..I'm a painter so this is a wonderful practice for me. I also have another question...a few days ago, a puja was described to Ramakrishna, using the Shiva Puja (beginner's book) as the basis for a puja for Sri Ramakrishna. I was really struck by this and wondered if, for instance, I could do puja to Nityananda Avadhuta in this manner??? Thanks for you help. Namaste to all, sadhvi
Guest guest
Hi Maureen, I hope Nitya Shakti can clarify the terminology as she had brought it up. I do know that pancha-mukhi Hanuman is 5-faced Hanuman. I didn't know there was a cd for Hanuman puja, good to know. It goes on my wish list. I also have a Hanuman yantra and would love to learn more about it. > > Many thanks, > Maureen > - > nityashakti > > Friday, February 27, 2004 12:13 PM > RE: Hanuman > > > Jai Hanuman, > Birthday coming up: April 4th...Hanuman Jayanti...also a full > moon that day...very auspicious! Guest guest
Hi Maureen, The bhupura or bhupur is the sacred enclosure that marks the space of the yantra...it's usually square with "gates" leading into it. The dvivalya: 2 (dvi) circles surrounding the lotus petals (in this particular yantra). Sometimes these circles have to do with the gunas or with time, depending upon where they are in the yantra. The pancha-muki is the 5 faced version of Hanuman. There are alot of very interesting books out on yantras ...Harish Johari's book is a good introduction and there is one by Madhu Kanna that is amazing! It's a really complex science based on numbers and geometry, use of specific materials, etc. ...very difficult to find someone in the West to study with but there are some people, students of Harish Johari, who teach classes, mostly about color mixing. I'll bet Swamiji could tell you what to do with your Hanuman yantra...is it a copper one? Probably, I would imagine, it could be used in connection with the Hanuman Puja book and tape you can order from Devi Mandir but I wouldn't know how this should be done. Swamiji will know. Hanuman seems to me to be a very "forgiving" deity. I am really inspired by his: devotion, intelligence, learning, austerity, adventurousness, focus, loving heart, bravery, courage and, for me personally, his insistance on being himself, no matter what the circumstances...he doesn't mind "making a monkey of himself" when it comes to his love for Lord Rama. I love that he just stood up in front of all of those important people and chewed away at the bracelet looking for Rama's name...then the story of when he arrived in Lanka and didn't know how to find Sita and sat down on the beach and cried...it was so touching. I always love doing puja to him, remembering these stories..then I don't feel overly concerned about "getting it right" and, instead, just focus on my love for him. It sounds as though you are already there! Oh, one other thing I wanted to mention. If you do have a copper yantra....one thing I did with a copper Ganesha yantra was put it on a xerox machine and enlarge it so I could see the sanskrit mantras..then I got out my Sanskrit alphabet sheet and dictionary and translated them so I knew what was on the yantra....then, of course, I had to do a little "cleansing puja" for it...but, since Lord Ganesha is the Lord of Communication, I guess he doesn't mind xerox machines and computers too much! Hope all of this is helpful to you...good luck with your practice. Whoops, another thing....a Vaisnavite priest told me this in December. I was feeling sad because I missed the chanting of the 1,000 names of Hanuman because of a catastrophe in my life...but the priest told me that, in actuality, Hanuman doesn't like to hear his 1,000 names all that much. He said Hanuman prefers to hear the name of Lord Rama...that what really pleases him is listening to "Shree Ram, Jai Ram, Jaya Jaya Ram". The other thing is, though, that Hanuman needs to hear the Hanuman Chalisa to "remember" how great he is or he forgets and thinks he's just a monkey! best love to you, sadhvi
