Guest guest
I am new to this group. I love Shree Maa & Swamiji too!.... and it's wonderful to be included in such a great group of loving e-mails & people who love what I love (it seems from the e-mails I received today - the 1st time) ...... forgive my ignorance, but why does Vishnu specifically have no desire in his lap? Also, is there anything in particular I should know about e-mail user-group etiquette please? Gracias. Guest guest
Namaste Majah, Good to see you. Welcome aboard. Why does Vishnu have no desire in his lap ? One part of me is tempted to say that is a story and to take it as such. Another part of me wonders if there is some intuitive meaning to it. I "vish" I "nu" too. Nitya would surely know. And it would be interesting to hear Swamiji's answer. As far as the email etiquette, my understanding is that any constructive discussion on the Divine is welcome . To share and gain from each other's experiences, knowledge and insight. Perhaps Sarada can add to this. Best wishes, Latha , Majah Fox <pbmentaur> wrote: > Hello! > I am new to this group. > I love Shree Maa & Swamiji too!.... > and it's wonderful to be included in such a great group of loving e- mails & people who love what I love (it seems from the e-mails I received today - the 1st time) ...... > forgive my ignorance, but why does Vishnu specifically have no desire in his lap? > Also, is there anything in particular I should know about e-mail user-group etiquette please? > Gracias. > Majah > > > > > Free Pop-Up Blocker - Get it now
Guest guest
This how I understand it... to much and to little represent rajas and tamas, Lord Vishnu represents Sattva. To hold on ones lap means Union. So, we fight our rajasic and tamasic nature with Sattva but the struggle only comes to an end when all of them come together in Union, where there is Union (lap of Vishnu), there is no desire... Dear Chandimaa... Help us to understand...understand...understand... Seeking Union... Your Children...

Guest guest
That's cool. Here's my take. Brahma's song in Chapter one extols the Devi to wake up Consciousness (Visnu). When we meditate (spin our chakras) through the thousands of impressions (varsanas) in the five levels of physiology (5 Koshas) then the mind (dual nature of thought/the running of the opposites--yes and no) settles down (into the lap of Consciousness) which is where Swami Satyananda says the Devi rests. Then we lose our attachment to the gross (heads of too much and too little are severed from their bodies by the meditation--by the chakras revolving in time) and attain right being--samadhi and right thinking--good thoughts. The poetry of Markandeya creates the Bhav--mood and attitude--and the drama creates a spell that holds our attention. Nandu, I like your poetry, too--lots. Shree Maa KI JAY! Pranams to everyone, Nityananda S. >"nandu_108" <n_mallan > > > Re: Hello!-Vishnu's lap >Sat, 06 Dec 2003 01:31:31 -0000 > >This how I understand it... >to much and to little represent rajas and tamas, Lord Vishnu >represents Sattva. Guest guest
- I like this explanation very much, and Nandu's too was very interesting. It would be a good idea to ask Swamiji as well. My understanding at this point is very similar to Nityananda's-- in our asana of perfect stillness, when we are completely held in the lap of consciousness, no thought, just stillness in union with the Divine, then Too Much and Too Little, in perfect equilibrium, have no real existence. May our practices continue to teach us that balance of mind, thought, and heart in our lives, to expand our consciousness that all is Her, and bow, again and again.
