Guest guest
The story of the Gayatri Mantra is the story of Vishwamitra. It is the power of a mantra that transforms a worldly man to a spiritual Rishi. A lil background for those that would like to know ;- King Vishwarath was defeated in battle by the Rishi Vasishta. He accepted that the worldly accomplishments are nothing before the power of one who has realised the Brahman. He took up intense tapasya . His tapasya was so intense that it attracted the three Goddesses, Mahakali, Mahalakshmi and Mahasaraswati. Each gave their essence of Wisdom and manifest the Gayatri - or the Wisdom of the threes. The Goddess Gayatri blessed Vishwarath with the mantra (Om bhur bhuvah ....pracodayat) . Vishwarath meditated on the mantra and became Vishwamitra ( meaning - a friend of the world) and a Brahmarishi . As Vishwamitra continued meditating, he found Her in not only one Mantra but in thousands of others. Brahma revealed one thousand names in the Devi Bhagavat Mahapurana, which became famous as the Gayatri Sahasranam. One of the many beautiful aspects of the Sahasranam , is that all names are in alphabetical order .The poetry is such that regardless of the number of syllables in a name the total number of syllables is constant. This book contains the Gayatri Viddhi - the system of worship of Gayatri. It gives three different kinds of Hrdayadi Nyasas which is unique only to Gayatri. Jai Swamiji. Guest guest
It sounds like a wonderful contribution to the body of english transliterations, and one I would certainly like to own.
