Guest guest
Swamiji was so inspiring the other evening--he was shining! He talked to us again about the 5 modes of perception-- to understand further that God is beyond all of our modes of perception, and to not get caught up in them, nor perhaps, prejudiced by them, to simply recognize them for what they are. The modes of perception are: Time (kaal) Space (niyat, I believe) Attribute (kalaa) Acting/Behavior (raaga) Knowledge (vidya) He particularly paid attention to Time as a mode of perceiving, and to understand Time not as a thing in itself, but only a way we perceive; and in that understanding, we can come to know that past, present and future are all happening at the same time; God is both Time and beyond time, because God is eternal, but since Maya comes into being after Shiva opens His eyes, we utilize our 5 (kanshuktas?) to deal with the limited world. Maa pointed out that aim hrim klim--which are the bija mantras for each of the three episodes of the Chandi--are corresponding to present, past (prarabdha karma) and future (what is to come). That is, after putting Too Much and Too Little into balance, (through Mahakali) then prarabdha karma (the fruits of previous action) come to "attack" in the middle episode-- the Generals of the army of the Ego (for instance, Memories and Anxiety!) arrive and Mahalakshmi manifests to fight with this army. We are about to study the middle episode, having just completed study of the first episode (chapter one). Jai Maa, Jai Mahalakshmi! OM. we all bow to aim hrim klim.
