Questions on Brahmi

Several days ago there was some discussion about brahmi and I was

hoping the discussion would continue. Like Dr. Yadu, I was under

the impression that gotu kola, though frequently thought of as

brahmi, was, indeed not true brahmi. Could others comment on this?

To Dr. Yadu, I ask if there is a way to get true brahmi products?

What should a person look for?

TIA,

Gotu Kola is considered by Dr. Lad to be the American version of Brahmi. It

is from the same plant family and has many similar characteristics. Brahmi

powder may be obtained from many ayurvedic herb suppliers here in the U.S.

It is described in the Charak Samhita. There is also a Brahma rasayana

described as well. It is not just the chemical qualities of the plant or

even the vata, pitta, kapha attributes; there is the spirit of the plant

that heals. The plant spirit is described as aiding one's transition

through the lokas at the time of death--see Charak.
