Guest guest
What a beautiful photo of Mahaa Saraswatii!!!!! Thanks for posting this Sarada(one of Saraswati's names). Is that why you are so good at playing music? "Sara means ocean. Sva means one's own. Ti means the personification or embodiment. Saraswati is the embodiment of one's own ocean of experience. All the names which correspond to all the forms, all the knowledge of individual experience, make Saraswati one of the most important Goddesses of existence." (Swami Satyananda Saraswati From Saraswati Puja for Children) Saraswati is the Goddess of Music, Art, Philosophy, Literature, etc. She exists as all vibrations in the universe. She exists on the tip of the tongue in the form of speech. With our speech we should try to make it sweeter and wiser and use it to inspire and uplift. Before taking any test, giving a performance or recital or giving a lecture, etc. it is beneficial to recite Saraswati's mantra internally "Om Sang Saraswatyai Namah." Saraswati is worshipped by many students who long for progress in their studies as well. She helps with homework and tests. The Saraswati Puja for Children is a good puja not only for children for anyone who is interested in learning how to do puja. As one of the three gunas, Mahaa Saraswatii is the nature of Raja Guna, the energy of desire while Mahaa Lakshmii is of the nature of Being, Sattwa Guna. Mahaa Kalii is of the nature of rest and darkness,Tama Guna. On the Cosmic altar on the 3rd level, the causal body, Saraswati along with her husband, Brahma, create the perceivable universe. In the Chandi, Saraswati, with her sword of wisdom, defeated two demons, Self Conceit and Self Deprecation. Self Conceit are those thoughts that raise ourselves up like, "I am so great. I am better than you. Self Deprecation are those thoughts that put ourselves down like, "What a dummy I am. I can't do anything right. Why did I do that?" With the grace and wisdom of Saraswati we learn how to overcome these thoughts which truly keep us from realizing the truth of our divine nature. NOTE: Does anyone out there in cyber space know where I might get 1000 names of Saraswati in Sanskrit?
Guest guest
Parvati, I don't know, but just as a thought...have you checked with the Sri Karunamayi orginization? She is considered a manifestation of Saraswati, and japa of Saraswati mantra is something she does at her public meetings. I'm sure she has a web presence.
