Guest guest
There is a special puja which can be performed on any day with full faith but is especially auspicious if it is performed on a full moon day. The story is about the vow to speak and act in truth. The puja is located within the Visnu Puja and Thousand names of Visnu. http://www.shreemaa.org/bookstore.htm One time Narad Muni asked Vishnu,"By what spiritual discipline can people of the Kali Yuga develop their devotion to God?" Narada had been touring the earth and was filled with extreme compassion for the plight of mankind who were constantly being perplexed with various difficulties because of their bondage to egotism and attachment. And because they were addicted to telling lies were never at peace. Narad asked of Vishnu, "Please teach me a simple discipline, the practice of which will make their miseries come to an end." Then the compassionate Lord began to describe the worship of Lord Narayana, the Consciousness of Eternal Truth, the worship of which, when conducted with complete efficiency, grants comfort, pleasure, and liberation, otherwise known as self-realization. It destroys pain, grief, anxiety, and suffering and blesses participants with health, wealth, and all kinds of prosperity, success in every endeavor for the entire family. And thus begins the first chapter of the Satya Narayana Vrat. This story comes from the Skanda Purana and there are 5 chapters. Ramakrishna said that "Truth is the most important of all spiritual practices for this modern age." Swamiji said, "Worship with the vow to speak and act in truth is not merely a ceremony. It is an attitude towards life, a way of being in the world, and it is our sincere desire that devotees who study these texts will find more of God's truth taking over their being, and the ceremony of worship transforming into a life of worship" This story can be read and shared aloud with friends and family. It is a nice way to celebrate a full moon day and create your own satsang in your own temple. In can be chanted from the Sanskrit, or transliteration and then read in English or just read in English. There is also a special offering that is prepared and consists of wheat flour, bananas, little ghee, milk and honey. (The consistency is kind of like pancake mix.) After the offering is prepared and offered to Lord Narayana and the story read, all participants partake of the prasad. SRI SATYA NARAYANA BHAGAVAN KI JAI!
