Guest guest
Here is a question: Who keeps track of what Manvatara we are in and how? Pranams - parvati_saraswati Saturday, January 03, 2004 11:21 PM R: Question to the Group-Savarni In CHAPTER 1 OF the Chandi, Markandeya Rishi was sitting with his disciples and one of the disciples asked the question,"How did Savarnih become the manu of the 8th manvantara? That is the question the Chandi proposes to answer.WHAT IS A MANVANTARA? There are 4 yugas.A manvantara is one hundred revolutions of Sattwa, Dwapara, Treta, and Kali yuga. One revolution of the four yugas is called a kalpa. One hundred kalpas is a manvantara. One manvantara is a day of Brahma, one manvantara is a night of Brahma, two manvantaras are equal to a day and a night of Brahma. There are 14 manvantaras in a period of time of Brahma and then they repeat. WE ARE PRESENTLY IN THE 8TH MANVANTARA. Each manvantara is presided over by a manu.MANU is the existence of mind, the prevailing attitude of mind of that manvantara. PRESENTLY WE ARE IN THE PERIOD OF TIME PRESIDED OVER BY SAVARNI.As Nitya already said, Savarni means, "He who belongs to all colors, castes, tribes, and creeds, he who belongs to everyone." So the first Chapter of the Chandi begins with the story of King Surat, the conveyor of excellence, good thoughts. Good thoughts had dominion over the earth and a bad thought was never allowed to enter the kingdom. Then one time his enemies , the destroyers of worship attacked and although he had greater numbers in his forces, he was defeated. He returned to his own kingdom but the destroyers of good thoughts would not allow him to meditate there either so he fled from his kingdom and took refuge in the ashram of the Intellect of Love upon which he met a business man, named Samadhi. Both the Business man and the King wondered, "HOW CAN WE MAKE OUR MINDS SIT STILL SO WE CAN ENJOY THE PRESENT MOMENT?" So Intellect of Love, a great rishi, began to narrate the story of the Chandi. IN CHAPTER 13 the Divine mother gives a boon and Good Thoughts asks for his kingdom back. He not only gets his earthly kingdom back but he gets an imperishable kingdom. Good Thoughts also becomes the vehicle through which pure intuitve vision (Samadhi) shares his vision. Both of them work hand in hand. Good Thoughts also gets the boon that he will become the 8th incarnation of wisdom.(This is the 8th Manvantara). He will take birth from the light of wisdom. The greatest wisdom is to belong to everybody. Wisdom belongs to every color, tribe and caste. When we unite with wisdom we belong to all. We have become Savarni. Guest guest
Time is a way of perceiving things and not necessarily a thing in itself. All duality is perceived by means of five kanchukas, modes of perception: time, space, activity, knowledge (name and form), and attributes. If we were to postulate the deletion of any of these ingredients, then it follows that perception will be impossible. Shiva is the consciousness which perceives the manifestations of Shakti. Therefore, Shiva is the time-keeper. The rishis have expanded their perception to perceive as Shiva does perceive. They have reported this analysis of time to us. But because all time is continuing simultaneously, no where have they given us the exact starting point or the origin of the calculations. Therefore, we get to choose which time zone, which yuga, we wish to live in. Just as we can choose to live in Greenwich mean time zone, or to move to California or to India, in the same way we can choose the value system that most closely approximates our aspirations. We make that choice by our karma. For example, we can see many Brahmanas living the lives of business people, and we can see Shudras living the lives of Brahmanas. These are choices we all get to make. So Shiva keeps the time, the rishis perceive the time, and we get to choose the time zone in which we live. , "Mahamuni" <mahamuni@c...> wrote: > Here is a question: > > Who keeps track of what Manvatara we are in and how? > > Pranams > - > parvati_saraswati > > Saturday, January 03, 2004 11:21 PM > R: Question to the Group-Savarni > > > In CHAPTER 1 OF the Chandi, Markandeya Rishi was sitting with his > disciples and one of the disciples asked the question,"How did > Savarnih become the manu of the 8th manvantara?
