The Bhav was flowing ...

For those of you that could not be here at the Mandir on Saturday

night for RK class .... especially Kaliananda, Kamala ...

Maa was singing the song that Narendra (Later Swami Vivekananda )

sang at Ramakrishna's request .

Narendra is asking "When are you going to turn me into a madman"

And our Swamiji laughed and translated "When are you going to turn me

into a madman" and just sat there and was smiling and laughing so

happily . In my mind, Swamiji knew EXACTLY what Narendra was singing

about and couldnt agree more .

I sit there and ache for something I knew not what but just watching

and observing all that interplay - RK, Narendra, Maa and Swamiji... I

am sure all of us present in the class felt something ... a certain

longing ... during that song too.

And then Maa continues the song with a "Hari Bol" and lifts both her

arms and waves her hands ... Swamiji does that ... and slowly one by

one we were all lifting her hands and imitating them .

At the end of the class Maa said "You guys are full of bhav"

Yes Maa, the Bhav was certainly flowing last night ...

Latha,

That's nice you posted what went on Sat. for those that can't be

there.

It was also interesting to hear these informal words of Shree Maa's,

I wasn't sure she spoke English without an interpreter. Shows how

little I know of things.

I noticed there were none of the books in the local spiritual

bookstore, could anyone suggest one to start with.

I have been meditating "Om Shree Ma Om" and bhava comes immediately,

and I think of her singing and also sometimes also benign visions of

Kali. Could you ask her if you get a chance if that is an alright

practice.

Blessings,

Namaste Steve,

Maa speaks English well. She has been reading to us from the original

Bengali "Gospel of Ramakrishna" for the last one year and Swamiji

translates as she reads.

Books to get you started . This is the FUN stuff. My suggestions are

1) ShreeMaa:- The Life of a Saint

2) Sahib Sadhu :- The White Sadhu

3) Before Becoming This

They are available at http://www.shreemaa.org/bookstore.htm

I have passed on your question to Swamiji and will let you know when

I hear back from him.

Best wishes

Latha

It is a part of a practice and certainly it is all right. But it is

not the entire practice. You must combine the many disciplines of

spiritual life to advance from practicing to living your spirituality.

Spirituality means giving more than you take. Live your spirituality.

Latha,

Thanks for responding ... and for passing the question on, I

apprectiate that ...

I read the Gospel of Ramakrishna many years ago, it was very

inspirational ...

This is Vishweshwar

I posted my story of Durga worship Tuesday night. You may read it

and find similarities between your meditation on Maa and my puja to

Shree Maa/ Durga-

Shree Maa is a being of Pure Love. What a lbessing to know of

someone like Her and have the chance to think of Her, meditate on

Her, and talk to Her in Your Heart.

In Her biography, "ShreeMaa, the Life of a Saint", She says She

hears all who pray to Her. ALL.

That is a great book. It is available at the Mandir bookstore, on

line.

Yes! I just ordered that book a couple of days ago.

I can hardly believe our good fortune Shree Maa is available to

respond to the heart's call.

I will check out your post on Durga Worship ...

  • 4 weeks later...

swami,

sorry, i missed your response here until now, as i was going through

the e-mails.

yes that is what i am hoping for, to transition from practice to

living the spirit, or to turn my daily inclination into the sacred

fire, as you and shree maa do.

i have been working on chapter 16 of the gita, atisha's maxims, and

the teachings of shivapuri baba. this includes meditation, ishta

deva, restraints as i am capable of, etc.

nothing became so alive as shree maa's influence, or, it sped things

up. somehow meant to be.

i see you have so many practices, including worship, that are new to

me.

thank you,

steve c.
