Namaste, Everyone

Last week, Swamiji began teaching on chapter two in the Chandi, which is

also the beginning of the middle episode, the slaying of the Great Ego.

In the narrative, we learn that we have forgotten our own divinity, our own

light, and are "wandering about the Earth in the manner of mortals."

Our Clear Perception--our Divinity--is gone, or clouded, by ego as ruler,

and therefore the gods have been thrown out of heaven.

Swamiji talks of mortals as those who are attached to the samsara,

whereas devas (gods) illuminate the samsara, witness it, without attachment.

The Gods immediately take their situation, with Brahma, to Vishnu and Shiva.

Hearing of this state of affairs, their rage (or passion) focuses their light

into

One point, (different energies/lights bringing different parts into

manifestation)

bringing the Divine Mother into existence.

I wondered, "what is this rage?"--in further discussion with Swamiji, I am

slowly coming to understand; we cannot just sit and let life happen to us,

passively. Then nothing will happen, we will remain enthralled by samsara,

caught and wander about as mortals, as the Chandi tells us.

When we bring our passion, our longing, our statement to this situation--

NO, I will not lead this kind of life, I WILL focus my attention, my desire, my

energy on coming into the Divine untion, I will not allow my life to be ruled by

this ego--this is the beginning of Chapter two.

This is the beginning of the battle of Divine Mother with the Great

Ego--this

intensity of desire of God and devotion manifests the Divine Feminine, and

that is who is going to do battle, so to speak.

Of course, we're just beginning--Swamiji made commentaries last night on

some of the weapons these divine energies contribute to the one who will

fight Ego; it's quite an arsenal.

How incredible the Chandi is!

The bija mantra for the middle episode is, "hrim."
