Guest guest
Namaste Lathananda, I very much enjoyed reading about the Homa at the Mandir. I have read a little bit about Homa and wonder if you could tell me more. What is the idea behind Homa? What are the rules underlying this form of worship? I have read descriptions of some rather elaborate homas. Are there simple forms of homa that can be performed by beginers or those who don't have elaborately constructed fire pits etc. ~SE -- In , "Latha Nanda" <lathananda> wrote: > Karen , > > Here are the mantras we chanted on Saturday > > Ganesh - Om Gam Ganapathyai Svaha > Vishnu Sahasranam - Please refer the book by Swamiji > Lakshmi - Om Shrim Lakshmyai Svaha > Hanuman - Om Ham Hanumate Rudratmikaya Hum Phat Svaha > Tryambakam - > > Tryambakam Yajamahe Suganghim Pushtivardhanam > Urvarukamiva bandhanaadh Mrtyormukshiya Maamrutaad. > > Shiva - Om Namah Shivaya Svaha > > Brian, > > Here is what Swamiji had to say about the "Sat Chit Ekam Brahma" > mantra > > sat True existence > chit Infinite Consciousness > ekam One > brahma Supreme Divinity > > Jai Maa > Latha > > > > > , "Karen Borak" <karenborak@e...> > wrote: > > Hello, Latha, > > > > Although I haven't replied to your posts previously, I really > wanted to tell you how much I benefit from your candid revelations. > I am very new to "all this" and much of it both attracts and > intimidates me. Guest guest
The homa is the abbreviated form of yajna, from the root yuj- to unite. The union between the divine fire burning in the homa kunda and the light of meditation burning in the ajna cakra is the yajna. The simple version of a homa is described in the Hanuman Puja Book . , "sunelectric101" <ouranian@l...> wrote: > Namaste Lathananda, > > I very much enjoyed reading about the Homa at the Mandir. > I have read a little bit about Homa and wonder if you could > tell me more. Guest guest
In every yaj~na we say the word "svaaH" with each aahuti. yaaska explains the expression svaahaa, which implies the renunciation of ego, svatvahava: su aahaa iti vaa, svaa vaag aaheti vaa, svam praaheti vaa, svahuta.m havirjuhoti iti vaa || nirukta 8.21 || Therefore, the expression svaahaa is so important. Without the oblation of ego nothing can really be realized. However, if ego is not oblated then one gets the "pride" associated with rituals, yoga etc .... Therefore, j~naaneshvra maharaj warns the saadhaka in j~neshvarii - "jayaate abhyaasaacii gharaTii | yamaniyamaa.ncii taaTii | je manaate.n sadaa muThii | dharuni aahaati || 2.311 ||" Regards, Dr. Yadu , "swami_satyanandasaraswati" <swami_satyanandasaraswati> wrote: > The homa is the abbreviated form of yajna, from the root yuj- to > unite.
