Guest guest
The Winter Navaratri started on the 22nd this month. Another opportunity to refocus our attentions back on our beloved Divine Mother . For me it is like God throwing out life-lines all the time, to get back to Her. The numerous festivals are just fresh starts , a chance to begin again , a renewal ... Some of the disciples of the Mandir undertake 9 day fasts. These fasts can begin on the first day of the paksha (in this case the bright fortnight of the month) and end on the ninth day or begin on the sixth day of the paksha and end on the 15th (Full moon) day. Most people get up re..eeeally early like 3 am to start their sadhana on these days. They will have group as well as individual sankalpas for Navaratri. And of course reciting the Chandi is an important item in the 9-day agenda. Here is a verse from the Sapta Sloki Durga aka the seven Verses which express the essence of She who relieves difficulties These (IMO) are seven of the best verses gleaned from the entire Chandi. The start of each of the seven verses are 1) Jnaninamapi Cetamsi.... 2) Durge Smrta ... 3) Sarva mangala mangalye ... 4) Sharaanagata dinarta ... 5) Sarvaswarupe sarvese ... 6) Roganasesaana ... 7) Sarva badha prasamanam ... The seventh verse "Sarva badha ..." says "Oh Goddess, terminate all the disturbance in the three worlds, and in the same way remove all hostility from me" CHANDI MAA KI JAI !!!! Let me use every opportunity to know you more Mother ! May you always be victorious over my small self.
