Guest guest
In the Guru Gita, Swamiji explains how selfless Seva to the Guru (in this case), can lead to the practice of Karma Yoga. Some excerpts from the book "Seva is different from work in that the performer feels privileged to demonstrate the intensity of love by performing the action, while a worker maintains some expectation to receive in return. There are three forms of seva. The lowest form is when our respected person asks us, "Would you do this for me ?" The middle form is when we divide areas of responsibility and discharge our duties with an attitude of love. The highest seva is when we see an opportunity to demonstrate our love, and without being told or asked, we go out of our way to add value to another's life. Karma yoga is any action that induces a state of pure absorption in consciousness. Through seva to the Guru, selfless service as an expression of love, we earn the privilege of learning and practicing more of Karma yoga, and when our fickle minds stop creating modifications to the objects of consciousness, then we too realize the soul's inherent union with divinity. We become the Guru. We become the Supreme Divinity".
