Guest guest
"What do you get out of it ? Why do you spend EVERY saturday in the Mandir- a place with bare amenities? " A question that has been posed to me by very near and dear folks. For me it is a sanity check - a wake up call that there is more to life than just the business dealings and the politics of the world. And as in any practice that gives benefits, it is the regularity that counts. Many weekends, it is just a visit, a class, a darshan, a prayer and back to face reality. But some weekends, the lessons are hammered home. One lesson that was clearly brought home to me this weekend - when I was rousing myself to pack and get ready for the weekend stay. I had had a long week and would have preferred some rest. But I knew that I HAD to go and so I got ready despite my feelings. And that was my lesson ! Spiritual life is all about replacing "I cannot" with "I will". In normal life, I can give justifications, and be around situations that dont tax me. In spiritual life , I have no choice. I HAVE to face up to my demons ! In wanting to stay regular with my visits, I HAVE to "sacrifice" an extra snooze or laziness. Spirituality builds strength ! And vice-versa, or so I have found. Only a strong determination , no matter what, to stick with my sankalpas will help me grow. Here is what Swami Vivekananda has to say about succeeding in a spiritual life . 'To succeed, you must have tremendous perseverance, tremendous will. "I will drink the ocean", says the persevering soul; "at my will mountains will crumble up". Have that sort of energy, that sort of will; work hard, and you will reach the goal. ' How have your practices helped grow your spiritual muscle? I would love to hear of your stories. Guest guest
it's just the way it is. sanskaras are far too great not to be regular as possible. the world is a chaotic place for ego, eyes and mind must be trained on a daily basis to do turn to god. you are doing good. over time the resistances fade ... but how long will it take? there is no crystal ball on this. your cry for maa is the answer. forward ho Latha Nanda! , "Latha Nanda" <lathananda> wrote: > "What do you get out of it ?
