Did anyone get a chance to check out the Om Namah Shivaya media file

at http://www.shreemaa.org/media.htm

The sequence was filmed when Maa and Swamiji , accompanied by

various disciples ,had visited the various jyotirlingams in India.

Swamiji was telling us how in North India, they allow one to go into

the inner sanctum of the Shiva temples, but not the Vishnu temples.

Anyone here been to any of the jyotirlingams and can share their

experience?

It is almost Shivaratri and the talk of Lord Shiva is sure to get us

into the bhav for the big day.

Jai Shiva !

i listend/watched and enjoyed it very much. it was also nice to see

not only maa but also swami's steady figure as he tossed something

into the flames. such a magical sequence.

also thanks latha, for sharing abou maa's 108 lingams. i just

thought "what a cool thing to do, make 108 lingams!" so creative.

they make spirituality serious and fun at the same time.

It was Christmas day 1998. I was in the small village of Ganeshpuri.

This is about 3 hours north east of Bombay, on the bamks of the Thansa

river. I had just had Darshan in the Nityananda temple, and then as

was customary , I went to the Shiva temple to sit for a few minutes in

prayer. This temple packs a powerful wallop and did not let me down

this Christmas day.

They happened to be cleaning the temple at that time. It's very easy

to clean this temple as their is a hot spring just a few feet away. A

young boy handed me a pot of warm water and I bathed this ancient and

holy lingam. Waves of Shakti ran through my being and I thought I was

going to lose consciousness. Instead I started singing OMMMMMM.

Actually it was more like I heard the sound in my body and then i

voiced it as well....

I was totally ecstatic. A fire had begun.

For days I kept feeling strange things, emotions, and longing which i

was not accustomed to.

Finally I decided to make a vow. It was like I had a debt to pay

back.

So I decided to chant Sri Rudram (Namakam and Chamakam) for 5 days at

the Shiva temple.

This seemed like a modest, doable, practise.

On the fifth day my friend Peter accompanied me and this seemed to

increase the intensity and we both fell into a deep meditation at the

conclusion.

Well guess what?

After five days I was feeling so good i decided to keep going till

ShivaRatri which was, I think late February that year.

I also bumped up the practise to 3 Rudrams a day.

I was bathing in a mantric Ganges everyday. Cosmic dreams, profound

breakthroughs in understanding, fire, grace, and Ecstacy.

Finally on Shivratri I was able to recite Sri Rudram 24 times. (Don't

ask me how!) The last time at midnight we also bathed a Shiv Lingam,

(a different one then where this all started) offering Bilva leaves,

Mango flowers, and Heena, all the while with two very powerful Brahmin

priests.

So, what happened then...?

I could not stop and i ended up reciting Sri Rudram all year. YES!

Every day a minimum of 3 times, however I felt best when I sang it 5

or 7 times a day.

Well this was quite a year for me.

I also ended up in Arunachala (the fire lingam) And Chidambaram, (the

akashic lingam)

A culminating moment for me was toward the end of my year in India, I

just had finished the 7th recitation of the Rudram and i was sitting

in a large grass field, around sunset. I lay back on the grass and

watched the exquisite colors of the sky. As I did so, I began to feel

like I was falling backwards, and I closed my eyes. The earth lost

its solidity and felt cloud-like. And yet as I was falling, I also

had the sensation of being supported. It reminded me of a game we

used to play as a kid, to learn to trust your friends, where you fall

back into your friends arms, with your eyes closed, and they catch

you. As you fall you feel a little bit scared and then you are caught

and you feel quite good. In the same way , this was happening to me.

But I was being caught by Lord Rudra. I was falling millions of

times, thru thousands of life times, throughout all of my trials and

difficulties and yet, God was there catching me with his soft hands,

taking care of me, and in fact guiding me gently with great love at

all times.

Om Namah Shivaya!

Dear Hrdayakasha,

Thank-you so much for that beautiful post. I remember the Shiva

Temple in Ganeshpuri and, even more, the small ashram of Kailas

Nivas, where Nityananda Avadhuta spent the last 10 years of his

life. I spent many days, during the monsoon times, sitting by his

chair listening to the sound of the rain coming down like a river.

Since I'm in the middle of a "Rudram Vrat" for Shivaratri, I

was inspired by your story; it was a real gift when I turned on my

computer this morning and logged on to the Devi Mandir site. Thank-

you and thanks to everyone here for a very uplifting site.

Shree Maa and Swamiji's pure intention, generosity of spirit and

compassion have been like a beacon of light for me during the past

few years. Again, thanks to all of you and, most especially, to

Shree Maa and Swamiji for the considerable healing they are able to

effect in the spiritual community.

Namaste,Swamiji,Namaste, Maa,

best love,

sadhvi

such a place that must be, ganeshpuri. i have been very inspired by

nityananda too. shree maa and swamiji have been "pulling all that

together," making devotion and practice real in this time. yes we

are fortunate. may god protect them.
