Guest guest
Dear Swami Brian-ananda, I bow to you. You know and understand the essence of what Swamiji is trying to drill into us repeatedly. To see the Chandi in our lives. How do we recognize the asuras in us and around us ? And not just recognize, now we know how to remove the asuras too. We have the technique - keep chanting her praise . One thing though, it has been my experience and this is my personal opinion based on that experience, that the Goddess will not withdraw even if I do . She gives me a break from time to time, but She creates the situations for me where I have no choice but to turn back to her. The chaos is plenty - I find that the best way to deal with them is be honest with myself. A "so what" attitude . And willing to live with the chaos and see it through, not simply turn away. Why is this demon torturing me ? What is the Goddess trying to teach here ? Understanding and do something about it , or understanding that I cannot do something about it and leave it up to her? Of late, the more I chant, the more I feel on firmer ground. It is like an intimate one on one with her, and the "so what" attitude comes more naturally without even striving for it. If I stop chanting, the attitude lingers, but the strength is gone... and attitude too begins to go down. So introspection helps a great deal , but it is all in the sadhana of chanting really.. to me anyway. I was saving all these for my diary , but looks like I said most of it here anyway ... Chandi is the energy of transformation. Chandi is the energy by which we grow beyond the limitations of mind and body. Chandi exists all around us at all times. She comes in the form of Maha Maya and in the form of the souls in motion around us. Each and everything around us is a reflection of her and that reflection itself is her energy in motion. Chandi is also a book which tells an allegory of how one man discovered and was transformed by this goddess energy and it is also a recipe for how anyone can find and be transformed by her energy. Everything that happens in Markandeya's book happens in reality all around us, all the time and it also happens within us continuously all the time. Perfroming a recitation of the Chandi is the same thing as being conscious through our lives and recognizing the purpose, intention, and love behind the illusion around us.Performing a recitation of the Chandi causes a desire within us to capture that goddess of the hill, it causes us to recognize her beauty, her peace, and her simplicity. It is only through desire that we may call her to us to perform the purification of our minds that is necessary to realize her as ourselves. Everything experienced in the recitation of the Chandi is experienced in reality, in our lives. When you perform the Chandi in her name with good intentions then be on the look for the characters of the Chandi around you and you will begin to see them in the people surrounding you, in the objects around you, and in the occurances in your life. Then you will begin to see the characters within you and recognize that everything without is within and you may begin to feel Chandi not only at your alter while you read a book but also everywhere all at once. That is the realization we seek, the realization that all is one, all is Chandi, all is Shiva, All is I am. If you think you are in the midst of chaos, remember that the chaos is mother's doing and she does it because she wants you to recognize her. Once you recognize her and accept her, the chaos will likely begin to diminish, as long as you are continue seeing her and most importantly surrendering to her. The english Mantra that I like to use is this, "I am not in control, mother is, I surrender to her greater wisdom, her greater understanding and her truer love."When you recite the Chandi you are invoking her energy into your life. By focusing your attention on her, all the attention you give will be given back to you nine fold. Those who do not recognize her actions in their lives will cause her to get louder and louder until she is heard as long as you keep doing the Chandi recitations. If you give up, so will she by virtue of the law of freedom of will. There is another prayer I'd like to suggest. When things get chaotic and you're doing your best to surrender to her but are still having problems letting go, simply say, "Maa please be gentle with me." And she will.
