Guest guest
Swamiji, Are these the traditional times? Are there even "traditional" times? Would the times you allotted be the best to follow? Is there a "science" behind the times? We are hosting Sivaratri celebration here at our house for our San Diego Satsang. Last year we went straight thru to 7AM. Should it really end at 4AM or 5 AM instead? Guest guest
The night has four praharas divided into three hours each. 6 PM , 9 PM, 12 AM, 3 AM. That is traditional. We start at 5 PM because of the number of people and the sincerity of the puja. We have made adjustments because of the circumstances of our temple. Also we will be doing homa all night long. We will light the fire in the day and perform the Chandi homa, then the Rudrashtadhyayi, then Shiva Sahasranam before the first puja. Then between the pujas we will again perform the Shiva Sahasranam at 10 PM and the Rudrashtadhyayi at 12:30 AM and perform 10,000 panchakshar ahutis in between to be completed before mangala arati in the morning. , "Mahamuni" <mahamuni@c...> wrote: > Swamiji, > > Are these the traditional times? Guest guest
Thank You Swamji. This is what I thought. I figured You were making slight adjustments for the Mandir program. It has been years since I have been up there for Mahasivatratri. I have fond memories of it. These days, this Devi Mandir Grhastashram that my family and I dwell in hosts celebrations for all the devotees here. I don't own the property so I was never able to build a dhuni. Some day when I eventually buy something..... Jai Maa! Guest guest
Namaste Surya, You can use a fireplace too , if you have one. We conducted a fire ceremony in the home of some of the disciples and we used their fireplace. Only the pujari got to throw the offering to the fire, the rest of us put the offerings into a bowl and offered it to the fire later. Just a suggestion ...
