I read this in the Introduction to the "Shiva Puja and Advanced

Yajna' book by Swamiji.

====================================================================

The letter 'sha' is the illumination of Peace, the syllable 'i' is

the Causal body, 'va' means union with the infinite, and the

definition of Shiva is the welfare of all objects of perception.

Conceive in your mind the ultimate goodness and when you have your

picture of perfect goodness, infinite goodness, then make it better.

That is the beginning of the understanding of Shiva.

We place Shiva in our hearts, place ourselves in the presence of

Shiva, and then strive to come closer and closer to this Highest

Goodness, the Highest Divine Spirit. When we get to where we can get

any closer, that is when the puja of Lord Shiva begins.

ha, beautiful.

hey latha, here is a strange story.

2 gods were taking a walk. there was a little bird with a broken

wing on the sidewalk.

one of the gods bent down to care for the little bird. how gentle

she was, and how grateful was the tiny frightened animal.

the other god walked on. if you could see him, he is frightening to

behold ... creatures of all sorts, birds, alligators, elephants,

bears ... they are all dying on his outer form like insects ... he

brushes off their carcasses and blood, scarcely noticing.

both the gods are going to a meeting.

who is it they both report to? where does the heart of these great

beings meet?

i love you latha! peace to your wonderful gurus.

Namaste Steve,

Alright , I give up . Who is it they both report to? where does the

heart of these great beings meet?

I'd like to say that they are both one , or two aspects to the same

source, or we see them as different because WE are dual .... but I

wouldnt know :)

Love to you too

Latha

hahah latha of course you already know. i was thinking about the

attributes of creation and destruction, the giving and taking away

of existence. the mother cares for one individual, and yet beings

die by the multitudes each instant. you could even say when we wake

up in the morning entire realms disappear, they are extinguished,

due to our lack of attention.

so there is this compassionate aspect, but also the infinite aspect

that is untouched by all the birth and death.

and yet those 2 aspects must report to one beingness, if our god is

truly infinite. it is not only the good aspect, although that is the

one that appeals and draws us in. god does all this, the beautiful

and not beautiful. one aspect of everything is your desire.

but we care for each broken wing, because that is our way. or maybe

it is because we must reach out with those wings and need a tender

hand to help us. that infinite space that is untouched is not so

easy to reach.

enjoying you and your gurus and other here 2.
