Guest guest
I grew up in India feasting on stories from the Puranas and itihasas ( Indian mythologies and legends). I remember us kids, siblings and cousins sitting around my grandmother during dinner, eating only when she told us some stories ... Ah Nostalgia ! I found to my delight a collection of these stories in the Swami Purana compiled by Swamiji. To me it was like re-visiting an old ,dear friend ! This is a perfect anthology for those that want an entertaining spin to the classical teachings, and understanding the heritage. It is a small bucket drawn from the immense ocean of spiritual wisdom. These stories originated from the Vedas and Upanishads, were amplified by the Puranas, enhanced through the epics of Ramayana and Mahabharata, and explained in both the Srimad Bhagavatam and Devi Bhagavatam . They have been arranged in a chronological order, from the Satya Yuga to the beginning of the Kali Yuga. The stories are filled with many levels of meaning, and they are lots of fun. It is great for reading aloud, acting out the parts, and sharing this heritage with children and friends.
Guest guest
I love the Swami Purana too!! I enjoy sharing it with others. I also love the CD of Swamiji telling Sadhu Stories from the Himalayas. I have happily shared the CD with others, in fact a carpenter who worked on my house still has my copy!
