oh latha allow me to attempt.

maya ... all this is god's maya ...

all this coming and going ...

to say, some "thing" or person individually is god is wrong, but to

say all this cosmic action is god's manifestation is right.

this great wheel that is turning, all the boats on the sea, the sea,

the sky, the clouds ... even that which we cannot see ... all this

is turning simultaneously by god's hand ... that is maya in the form

of a divine mechanism.

when we look at one little part of it, and are enmeshed in that

causation, then we are drawn into the karmic aspect of maya.

ok.

love,

steve c.

This definition is based on Eckhart Tolle's definition.

Maya is the stuff that allows consciousness to forget its own identity.

I like Swamiji's the best though.

Maha Maya is the supreme test of consciousness.

Oh, and my definition is much more simple.

Maya is the mother of my physical form, through which I act in Goddess'

grand play.

I'm waiting for her to yell, "Cut! That's a rap!"

Of course, she'll just start all over again, new budget, new plot, and

Universe 57 will start filming.

hehe,

Brian

Ma means measurement and Maya is the measurement of infinity and the

form of the Divine Mother. It is the power which creates

individuality giving us the opportunity to worship the Divine.

Everything that exists does so because of Maya.

Maya is that illusionary state where we see ourselves as separate

from divinity thereby creating attachments and bondage for self. We

look and look into the world for what is inherent and alive within

until for the most part, pain and frustration causes us to sit back

and reflect bringing the mind within.

Over time this reflection can lead to finding a path (Guru) that

helps us to remove the illusions and harmonise once more with Self.

NAMASKAR EVERYBODY,

ISHWARI SAYS: ACCORDING TO SHREE RAMAKRISHNA `I & MINE' IS `MAYA'.

THIS SELFISH CONCEPT CREATRES CONFUSION AND ILLUSION IN WHICH UNREAL

APPEARS AS REAL.

CHAITANEYA SAYS: CONCEPT OF `MAYA' IS DIFFERENT IN VEDAS AND IN

TANTRA. IN ONE IT IS POWER OF ILLUSION, WHICH CONFUSES AND DELUDES

HUMAN MIND AND IN THE OTHER `MAYA' IS BENIGN MOTHER WHICH CUTS

ASUNDER ALL EVIL AND SELFISH THOUGHTS AND REALESES HUMAN MIND FROM

MISERY OF DELUSION AND DUALITY.

TO MY MIND BOTH CONCEPTS ARE TWO SIDES OF THE SAME COIN. ONE

WHO CAN CREATE ILLUSION CAN ALSO REMOVE IT.

IN RAMAYANA, RAMA, SITA AND LAXMAN ARE WALKING ONE BEHIND THE

OTHER IN A FOREST. LAXMAN WANTS TO HAVE DARSHAN OF RAMA ALL THE

TIME; BUT SITA IS IN BETWEEN. ONLY WHEN SHE MOVES ASIDE, LAXMAN CAN

SEE RAMA! HERE RAMA IS GOD THE REALITY, SITA IS MAYA-THE VEIL AND

LAXMAN REPRESENTS HUMAN BEING. ONE CAN SEE THE REALITY ONLY WHEN THE

VEIL IS LIFTED.

This is my response -

When we forget that You are holding the strings and we are merely

puppets

.... that is Maya

This is something I saw on the web and wanted to share it with you.

My thanks to the unknown author

====================================================================

In this life we do not see things very clearly. We are constantly

faced with contradictions. Though we know what is right, we have

trouble doing it. Our thoughts soar high, but our actions cannot

rise to the level of our thoughts. The world is full of misery and

injustice; as quickly as we remove some, more seems to rush in to

take its place. We are told by the saints, and we also feel, that a

loving God is at work in this creation, but we cannot reconcile this

with what we see around us. This complex situation in which we find

ourselves is called maya.

The way out of this, according to Hinduism or Vedanta, is that we

are not really seeing the world properly. If we saw it properly, we

would see that it is God alone before us. Instead, we superimpose

all this complex world on that divine reality. The illustration

given is that of a rope, mistaken in semi-darkness for a snake. The

snake of this world frightens us. What is the solution? Bring a

light and you will see its real nature. It is only a rope. Likewise,

the real nature or essence of this world is divinity alone. Bring

the light of spiritual wisdom through yoga, and you will see God

alone everywhere. This is what constitutes spiritual freedom or

liberation, Moksha. When this knowledge dawns, there is complete

satisfaction; no desire remains in the mind, and no further impulse

for rebirth remains.

Dear Shree Maa, You are Maya,

You are our nearest and dearest Mother.

You put a veil around You for our and for Your pleasure.

When You make us sit still, You let us see Your nature.

You are Chandi.

The One who understands You is Swami Satyananda Saraswati,

He is Shiva, He is Ramakrishna, He is Maya.

Please excuse my shortcommings.

All the above has been said before.

More beautiful and in many Sanskrit Hymns and other Words.

O Maa, a child can be bad, but a Mother can never be bad. (Shankaracharya)

Jai Maa, I Love You very much

Your son Dharmesh
