Guest guest
Bom Mahadev! Mahashivaratri at my place was off the chart! There was a storm in the air. Winds howling. Intense energy! We started at 6 PM with an awesome aarti, ringing bells, blowing conches, waving lights and a bathing of my large Narmadeshwar Shiva Lingam and 12 others that I set up around it to represent the 12 jyotir lingams. . The altar came out awesomely! Shiva did it up nicely. I wish I had taken a pic. Maybe I'll take one of the end of the night result. We then went into the Shiva Sahasranamavali (1000 name of Shiva), chanting Om Namah Shivaya in response to the lead singer and then poured our hearts out in Bhajans until the Sun rose at 6:30 AM. I performed the 4 traditional abhishekam baths (milk, yogurt, ghee, honey) to the Lingams with a last additional bath of rosewater, Ganga Jal, and Amma's holy water. We read from Adi Shankaracharya's Sundari Lahiri and ended with a full 108 repetitions of the Maha Mrytunjaya Mantra and then the same of Om Namah Shivaya and the last abhishekam and Aarti. Since I was hosting I could not allow myself the luxury of deep meditation as much as I liked, though I did sneak in some. The air was so juicy with Shiva's Amrti. It was so palpatable. Especially after 2 AM. As always, it was an incredible night! I hope it was the same for all of you. This is always a night of intense Shakti that one should take advantage of. I'm sure it was off the chart at the Mandir as well. Kashiji, did Dadu ever comment on this? Pranams to all! Surya
Guest guest
Happy to hear of your "off the chart" Mahashivaratri. Mine was also heavenly, celebrated in the solitude of the high mountain woods with a sifting of snow during the night. Breaking the fast, I fed Shiva coffee ice cream with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. One of his favorites. Om namo shivaya!!!!
