A man who entertains such an idea, while looking on his own body as the Self, causes himself great harm. He cannot go forward in spiritual life; he drags himself down. He deceives himself as well as others. He cannot understand his own state of mind." every page has a gift like that. that page clarified a comment shivapuri baba made, that it is best to hold on to that sense of duality as we approach god. on page 34: "As he uttered the name of Kali, he would be filled with the joy of divine inebriation, and people saw him in that state actually reeling or talking incoherently like a drunkard. He went into ecstasy at the sight of a prostitute, of drunkards reveling in a tavern, and of the sexual union of a dog and a bitch. The whole world and everything init appeared as the lila, the sport, of Siva and Shakti. He beheld everywhere manifest the power and beauty of the Mother; the whole world, animate and inanimate, appeared to him as pervaded with Chit, Consciousness, and with Ananda, Bliss." i pray no one finds this offensive. i feel it is extraordinarily beautiful, his vision of manifestation ... it is well beyond limited notions and convention, yet entirely benign and chaste. he was really an angel on this earth. peace, steve c.
