Guest guest
Hi Steve, As Ardis says, they are great questions. Regarding Arati - It is the conclusion of a puja, at a time when we have established the deity within us, and lovingly offered all the attention possible. Now that the deity is within us, what else is there except to celebrate ? And thats exactly what we do - celebrate , dance with joy, visualise Her in front of us, offer divine lights, incense, camphor, cloth, fan Her gently, mirrors for Her to check herself out and flowers ! And all the time we are ringing a bell with the left hand , to purify the atmosphere. Everything done to make Her/His presence felt STRONGLY in our lives. Jai Maa ! Jai Shiva ! Dont Go ! Please STAY on in my altar and make your presence felt in my life ! Thats my take on the Arati. As far as swaying when chanting Om Namah Shivaya, I dont know, I am hoping others will chime in on this one. My understanding of chanting "Om Namah Shivaya" is stay in one asan, keep the limbs as much in control as possible, focus on breath and chant. Guest guest
To all members: Most interesting question one I have asked myself many times when I was listening to an Arati, doing Japa of OM NAMAH SHIVAYA or listening to a CD by Hari Om Sharan on OM NAMAH SHIVAYA. I myself have come to the following conclusion that is perfectly fine to jump in joy, dance, sway from side to side, and move to the rhythm when chanting the the name of the Lord. We should be having fun when doing so. It should be fun. OM NAMAH SHIVAYA Jose [apologies if too many posts]in the Shiva puja, can anyone speak on Arati, to dance in celebration? and ... when chanting Om Namah Shivaya as Shree Maa doeson the cd ... if the inclination is there to sway the body a little, is it good to go with that, or be restrained .... or left to one's inspiration? what best facilitates unity and worship with God/Shiva?Jai Maa.steve c.
