Guest guest
i wanted to share some strange little experiences about questions. these both occurred when i was about 14 or 15 years old. i used to walk a lot, day and night. one evening i was walking on a solitary road across a very broad field, one side of which was a small airport. the stars were bright and many overhead, the sky was expansive. it suddenly occurred, out of "nowhere": "why do i think i am walking about on 2 legs?" please keep in mind i was a young man, a boy really, who had not yet read any philosophy. the nature of the question was very direct, on the order of "how did i get here? this is quite a shock being here! what happened? where did i come from?" at another time i had a related experience ... i was in my freshman or sophomore year in high school ... as i entered the area where my locker was, a loud and clear voice within abruptly asked this: "WHAT IS THE QUESTION?" this immediately struck me as very paradoxical, as if to demand considerationn: "what is this? all of this? how did this happen? how did this appear?" many years later, i was drawn [not surprisingly i am sure you will say] to ramana maharshi's "nan yar?" [who am i, vichara, self- inquiry.] anyway, i am going on too much. this question still lives in me. i hope to find help in resolving this, not in the form of a verbal "answer" but at the deepest possible level of truth/god/self. these questions which used to disturb at an existential level, now bring tranquility to consider, where the question can then be engaged further. ahhhh ... love ... too many words ... i crave this completion ... om ... thank you for any teachings i receive. peace, love, i offer sweet scented flowers to these gurus! your friend in the spirit, steve c.
