Dear Surya,

Lord Mahavir is the 24th (and last) Tirthankara of the Jain

religion....Thirthankaras are considered the Gods of the Jains,

beings who achieved enlighenment through austerities. It is the

birth of Lord Mahavir that is celebrated just before Hanuman

Jayanti....it IS confusing, though, because of Hanuman's names.
