Guest guest
latha hoho you are really a delight! i like your menu of sankalpas! i am sure you will keep us posted on swami's austerities if we are brave enough to try and order one [and have worked up a big apetite!] since i am but a baby-beginner, i will start by asking about the "Small size Sankalpa - to be followed for 9 days" the questions: 1. where can i find the Navarna mantra? i have a few books from shree maa and swami, but have not run across that ... 2. the 32 names of Durga or Siddha Kunjika stotram -- is that in the durga puja book? i have that but am currently engrossed in shiva puja beginners ... maybe it is in there? i will look. 3. when you say "do the entire chandi" you mean, reading it out loud ... do you mean, you memorized the sanskrit "chandi path" and recite out loud? ?? plus thank you for the encouragement, peace, steve , "Latha Nanda" <lathananda> wrote: > Namaste Steve, > > It was fun to hear of your chanting experience and the "looks" that > you got . To practice Navarna mantra japa, one needs to get initiated into that mantra from a proper teacher. One should not do japa of this mantra from books. > > 2. the 32 names of Durga or Siddha Kunjika stotram -- is that in the > durga puja book? 32 names of Durga can be found here. http://www.ambaa.org/stotrams/durga32.htm Sanskrit fonts can be downloaded from the same page. Siddha Kunjika stotram can be found in Gita Press publication of Chandi Sapthasati. This stotra also needs to be learnt from a teacher. I hope someone close at the Mandir, if not Shree Maa or Swamiji Themselves can comment on this. Pranams, Surya
Guest guest
You are speaking from reading a written scripture without the context of its oral tradition. This is not the way to right understanding and will always lead to misunderstanding and things other than how they were intended. Oddly, this is really what those verses were pointing at and were stated more for effectiveness and the importance of maintaining the tradition than anything else. Always side with what the Living Saints say. They are the Voices of the Living Truth. What Shree Maa or Swamiji or Amma says is quite enough. That is not an opinion. No teacher faithful to his lineage will say otherwise. It is better to read about mantra shastra from some authentic sources b4(or while doing) starting sadhana so that basic doubts like that will be cleared.Rgds

If there is mistranslation or misunderstanding please point out what it is and the appropriate reasons as to why why you think the translation I posted is a misunderstanding. Then we will examine. > > Oddly, this is really what those verses were pointing at and were >stated more for effectiveness and the importance of maintaining the >tradition than anything else. > > Always side with what the Living Saints say. If any doubts, try asking your teacher or contact the Sringeri or Kanchi Shankaracharya mutt. Regards Satish.
