Guest guest
Annapurna puja is Sunday, March 28. This is the 8th day of Navaratri. It is auspicious to chant the 1000 names of Annapurna on this day. Here is what Swamiji says in the introduction of the Annapurna puja and Sahasranam available at: http://shreemaa.org/bookstore.htm. Anna means food and grains. Puurnaa means full, complete, and perfect. Annapurna is the respected Goddess. She who is full, complete, and perfect in food and grains. She is the symbol for One who grants nourishment on every level. Even Lord Shiva had to come to Her to beg alms for the attainment of perfection in wisdom and renunciation. That is Her gift to us all. Her wisdom teaches us that spirituality is about giving. The renunciation She teaches allows us to be in equanimity in every circumstance in life. Mother Annapurna inspires us to nourish others, to give our best, consistent in the wisdom that the greatest joy comes from renunciation. As we can free ourselves from attachment we experience more and more of the bliss of Sankara, the name of Shiva which literally means the cause of peace.
