Guest guest
Hello to all, I have been told that if the spine is curved deep meditation is not possible because the energy cannot rise at it should. Can anyone say if this is so and whether it can be corrected. Thanks. Kali
Guest guest
Kali, In the normal course of things, I believe this is true. Alignment of the head, neck, and trunk is vital to proper movement of prana in the nadis. That said, Pandit R. Tigunait has written that according to tradition one of the great sages of the past (Dattatreya?) had a pronounced deformity of the spine. Is this along the lines of your question? Guest guest
2 cents. ramana maharshi had horrible posture, but he was a real devotee. everyone has something they can do better, posture is probably just one of them. and yet, someone who holds themselves well ... as an expression of mind ... posture is considered important in many traditions ... ramana overcame this kind of shortcoming with the power of his devotional inquiry and mind. for us, we should probably sit up straight ... as swamiji said somewhere (and i love this one): "we need all the help we can get." it is so, it is so ... ramana also said that pranayama is of no use ... to him ... but to us, it is. same with posture. keep in mind this is 2 cents from a newbie. peace ... steve c. , "Chris Kirner" <chriskirner1956> wrote: > Kali, > > In the normal course of things, I believe this is true. Guest guest
Namste Kali, Yes. The back should be straight. It says in the purification of the asan: Introducing the mantras of the Purification of the seat. The Seer is He whose back is Straight, the meter is of very beautiful form, the tortoise who supports the earth is the deity. These mantras are applied to make the seat free from obstructions." Is the curved spine due to laziness or inattentiveness or is it a medical problem? If due to laziness and inattentiveness then it can be corrected. , "kaliananda_saraswati" <kaliananda_saraswati> wrote: > Hello to all, > > I have been told that if the spine is curved deep meditation is not > possible because the energy cannot rise at it should. > Can anyone say if this is so and whether it can be corrected. > > Thanks. > > Kali
