It has nothing to do with pleasing a person egoically, but rather, the orientation of one's own mind. For example, being tired today and waiting in the Doctor's office, my desire was to collapse in a mental puddle. But I could at least ask myself, "Is this attitude pleasing to the Guru?" Nothing having to do with pleasing anyone, more like, the time is NOW to make the inner corrections, to be the enlightened beingness.
