Namaste Steve,

That is great you have been doing Shiva puja now for 3 weeks.

Soon you will have it memorized. The Guru Gita is an excellent

scripture to study and chant. You do not have to read the whole book

but you may want to look at the Kashyap sutra which is also

excellent and outlines the concept and path of enlightenment. The

Lalita Trishati is a chanting scripture devoted to the Divine Mother

in the form of the beloved, playful, beautiful Mother.

In the introduction to the Guru Gita Swamiji writes about the 3

forms of Seva:

The lowest form is when our respected person asks us,"Would you

do this for me?"

The middle form is when we divide areas of responsibility and we

discharge our duties with an attitude of love.

The highest seva is when we see an opportunity to demonstrate

our love, and without being told or asked, we go out of our way to

add value to another's life. There is no selfish exchange. It has to

be total absorption in the feeling of priviledge.

In this way we unite with the Guru principle, the Supreme

Divinity. This is the song of the Guru or Guru Gita. May your study

be prosperous and may you always sing with joy the song of the

Supreme Divinity! Jai GURU!
