I found this online, a guide to Sanskrit pronounciation and thought

might be useful to some on the list as it tells how the

transliteration and characters vowels and consonants are pronounced.

But you do have to have audio capabilities on your computer to use.

 

The jn sound is like the english hard "g" sound correct?

I am trying to dissect and learn the 32 names but having trouble so

I explored this site.

 

Also, the first line, about the mala, The 3rd word, how is that

pronounced? Different then the transliteration with a sh in there

with the n sound?? Is this repeated each time for the mala or only

once, or should I not worry about saying that part if I can't figure

it out?

 

I am just getting to the point where I can sort of move my lips with

the words... which is real progress. I feel kind of dense, but it's

a little fast for me not knowing sanskrit, still I am trying and

wish that real player or my cd player would have a 'slow play'

function, so I could try and do it slowly first. So I am just

trying to replay each part bit by bit...

 

Might be a miracle if I can do this before the 21st, but will give

it a shot.

Turtle Dragon, I found your suggestions very helpful as I am in the

same situation regarding Sanskrit pronunciation. Thanks a lot. I

also found that listening to Swamiji chant the 32 names is easier for

me to learn from. I think you can find this on track 32 of the Chandi

Path MP3 CD, if you have it; you can order it from Devi Mandir but

probably not in time to start on the 21st.
