Guest guest
I was starting my Chandi at the Mandir on Saturday night. It was 9 pm. I had a headache - I didnt want to cry off with "Not tonight Maa, I have a headache" so I sat down. Yet my heart wasnt in the chanting. So I started, with very little interest, temples throbbing and a longing for my sleeping bag. I went for about a half hour - finished the Prayog - now you guys know what a Prayog is after the online Chandi class , started on the 700 verses, came to chapter 2 and all of a sudden I stopped. I had enough. I closed my book and got up. Not a soul around to witness me sneaking away from the Chandi. (If a tree falls down and there is no one to hear it, does it make a sound? ) Then a senior disciple walked in. She asked me "Are you going to start your Chandi now?" I sez sheepishly "Oh I started it and just got up cos ....y' know..." And she looks concerned and her face gets all focussed and sincere "YOU CANT DO THAT" I sez "oh yeah ? I been doin that all the time. why , back home, i even get up to check my email ...." She looks at me more earnestly than ever. I begin to feel a bit scared. She said " When you take a sankalpa to chant - you are inviting the Goddess. How can you walk away when She is front of you listening to you chant ?" Hmmm , I guess I kinda know this but conveniently rationalized with "She is mother.. She will understand.." She continued " Have you ever seen Maa or Swamiji walk away from their Sankalpa ? " Nope ! She went on " You know the stories of how Swamiji continued chanting even when his clothes got on fire and when there was a flood ." "When you take the sankalpa, you SIT and FINISH and that is how you respect the Goddess" WOW. Yes, absolutely irrefutably YES. >From then on, WHATEVER HAPPENS, hell or high water, when I sit to pray and chant, I may squirm in my seat bcos of my poor posture, but I WILL NOT get up and walk away even for a break. Thank you Seema ! Your advice came at the RIGHT time - on my 4th month anniversary of my taking the Chandi Sankalpa.

Guest guest
it sounds like, the attitude is, as if one actually has the guru there in front of you, you don't want to waste a moment of their time, or yours, you wish to take the greatest and complete value of this moment of that relationship. , "Latha Nanda" <lathananda> wrote: > I was starting my Chandi at the Mandir on Saturday night. Guest guest
Hugz Latha. Thank you for that lesson. It is important. Also too to know, comes to mind, that even Parvati stopped chanting to rescue a child (that was the joke that Shiva played on her to see how big her heart was). So it is true to respect the mother, however also know it is in your heart and your heart is what matters. Your heart is true to the Goddess. I can tell. -td , "Latha Nanda" <lathananda> wrote: > I was starting my Chandi at the Mandir on Saturday night. It was 9 > pm.
