Guest guest
Swamiji has asked, simply, how do we give birth to our own King of Good Thoughts? Another answer might be: here we are in this world. Various things happen, various forces act upon us. We are either shaped by them, and we react in an impulsive manner, conform to our environment, or in other ways, trace our inner world to parallel what appear as the demands of our environment. Alternatively, we shape our inner world with intention, which, as a matter of course, shapes the "outer" world. Engaging this process is to study the most magnificent of instruments. How to shape our inner world? It is not by examining every nook and cranny of our psychology and examining and reliving personal events. It is by adapting a higher creed, code, or matrix of virtues. This is moral development. It's acquisition is simplicity itself; that which we contemplate, we become. The various translated scriptures are filled with lists of divine attributes ... they exist for the purpose of assuming divine qualities ourselves. The Gods and Goddesses are WITHIN US. It is our responsibility, privilege, and greatest desire to reach out, within, in all ways and directions, to know them. Also, we can review our behavior objectively; where we fail today, we resolve to correct tomorrow ... without harsh judgment, pragmatically. This is discrimination in action. Our outer world, or karmic life, can either defeat or facilitate our efforts. To facilitate, we must order life so that maximum time is for God. Here we must be quite practical. We are only in the position now, to learn the universal "Laws" and seek to live and expand most agreeably within these limits. Swamiji encourages a holistic approach, presumably for consistent advancement, and to limit reactions, if attempting to proceed beyond our capacities. The third realm is the spiritual, hopefully supported by the other two areas. This is the region of God. Here we seek to meet Her. Without Good thoughts, we are thrown back again and again on our limited concepts of self. We must constantly repair the damage of emotional reactions, errors, etc. ... suffering karmic retribution large and small ... in other words, at the mercy of Too Much and Too Little. So the birth of this King is essential. Our spiritual development depends on his well being. We need to take care of him every day. when Resting Consciousness fully awakens, She will slay TM and TL. Until then, we must take the best care of our King and his Kingdom. Peace, Steve
Guest guest
Yes, Steve it is true. Through daily puja practices we can give birth to the realms of the Gods and Goddesses within us. By not loosing heart and pushing on even while injured we can lift ourselves out of our own muck. Sangha too is helpful, so we should partake of it where and when we can. , "bingo_ridley" <sconnor@a...> wrote: > Swamiji has asked, simply, how do we give birth to our own King of > Good Thoughts? > > Another answer might be: here we are in this world. As rudran2 mentioned, I personally feel that satsangha(association with wise/divine/spirtitual persons/Swamis) gives birth to our king of good thoughts, in a majority of cases. The rest of sadhana helps in nurturing this baby king, IMHO. Rgds
