Guest guest
Hey out there: Someone wanted to do 1000 repetitions of Siva's mantra. Can't find the source. Did anyone else want to do this, maybe after the Navaratri's over? Person who posted; know a good day? I think Siva likes Mondays; And when the moon is a crescent such as he wears upon His head. I don't know when the next Sivaratri is. Anyone? dan
Guest guest
Do you mean the Siva Sahasranam or just 1000 japa of Om Namah Shivaya? - Dan Monday, March 29, 2004 12:34 PM Siva mantra recitation Hey out there:Someone wanted to do 1000 repetitions of Siva's mantra. Guest guest
Shiva does like Mondays. Shivaratri only comes once a year. It was on February 18 this year. My calendar doesn't go far enough to tell what day it will fall on next year. Since Lord Shiva is my Ishta Devata, I am always up for any sankalpa that will honor Him. A great number of ppl in south follow this Pradosha vrata. They take only fruits and milk that day. Or one can fast whole day and eat after evening puja(this is called nakta). One can choose any vrata to their liking. Pradosha comes 2 times in a month. Pradosha days can be known from this page. http://siddhanta.shaivam.org//thisyear.html For Parameshvara, a Shaiva agama and Shiva purana prescribe a repetition of 2,000,000(20 lakhs) as purascharana. Guest guest
Actually Ardis, Maha Sivaratri only comes once a year. There is a Sivaratri every lunar month. - Ardis Jackson Monday, March 29, 2004 1:06 PM Re: Siva mantra recitation Shiva does like Mondays. Shivaratri only comes once a year. Guest guest
Yes, it's the purascharana thread that I had lost. I guess we should take the poll to see if we're going to combine it with Chandi chapters or what. Yes, I used to do special mantra recitations and offerings during Pradosham days. I have to worship Devi first now, before Lord Shiva, otherwise I have "bad" astral experiences afterwards. So maybe doing Chandi recitation would be good. dan , "Satish Arigela" <satisharigela> wrote: > , Ardis Jackson <anandamama@e...> > wrote: > > Shiva does like Mondays. > > Also likes Pradosha days.
