Guest guest
Latha, I think this is great! Will it be required to do the 10 malas of the mantra? I have a mantra japa practice established and time will most likely permit just the chapter or section that we are on. love, Lynne - Latha Nanda Tuesday, March 30, 2004 11:36 AM Mission :- Purascharana and Chandi GREAT NEWS ALL Y'ALL !!!!I heard back from Swamiji regarding the Purascharana and the Chandi. Here is what he has to say, when I mentioned our plans to Him.Swamiji says :"I love the idea!Actually Purascharana means "Prefatory rite," something that we do "Before" the "Main Event." It is often used as a sankalpa within a sankalpa at the homa fire, like performing 1,000 navarna mantra oblations before reciting the Chandi at the fire. In this case it works perfectly to perform 10 malas of Shiva's mantra before a Chapter of Chandi. We worship both Shiva and Shakti, and I bless you all with the highest attainment of their grace. "Yipppeeeeeee! So what are we waiting for ? And no worries about finding 90 Brahmins to feed (Hey, back off, he's MY brahmin, go find your own !!!!) after we are done. For those that preferred to do the Chandi alone, that works well too. Or if you wanted you could do a 1000 of the Navarna Mantra or a mantra of your choice or none at all. Let us pick a day - how about Purnima - April 4th 2004. Swamiji had recommended that date for another event also. We will cover each section for a week and move on to the next. There are 18 sections - almost four and a half months - as long as the American Idol series almost !!!!1)Kavach -- Swamiji always recommends this as the first one.2)Rg Vedoktam Ratri Suktam3)Navarna Viddhih4)Chapter 15)Chapter 26)Chapter 37)Chapter 48)Chapter 59)Chapter 610)Chapter 711)Chapter 812)Chapter 913)Chapter 1014)Chapter 1115)Chapter 1216)Chapter 1317)Rg Vedoktam Devi Suktam18)Siddha Kunjika StotramSo we take each chapter - chant it for 1 week beginning on Sunday and ending the following Saturday. We could bring up any questions we have on the chapters through the week, measure our own progress by our own yardsticks , maybe meet up for a discussion on Sunday at 11 AM to see if there are unresolved questions and get ready to move on to the next section. How does that sound to everyone ? Any suggestions ?THANK YOU LYNNE AND CHRIS ! THUMBS UP TO TRUE SATSANGHA !JAI MAALatha

Guest guest
Since our sankalpa on group chandi, i have been doing Navarna vidhi everyday during my puja, and i would like to do that as long as i can, would this interfear with this sankalpa ?for example can i do navarna vidhi and then read kavach for first week? and so on , secondly are we reading the verses in sanskrute or we are reading the explanation to understand more. jai maa sanjuLatha Nanda <lathananda > wrote: GREAT NEWS ALL Y'ALL !!!!I heard back from Swamiji regarding the Purascharana and the Chandi. Here is what he has to say, when I mentioned our plans to Him.Swamiji says :"I love the idea!Actually Purascharana means "Prefatory rite," something that we do "Before" the "Main Event." Guest guest
Latha: So we're ALL chanting the Kavach next week? Are we specifying times of day to chant, or is it just whenever? I would like to do the Navarna mantra first, then the section, then follow with the Siva mantra. Am I getting this right? Will you print out a sankalpa like you did for the last one? I'm off-line at home so will not be able to check in as regularly as in recent times. Have to go to the library to use a computer. dan , Sanjay Dhokiya <sdhokiya> wrote: > dear latha > > Since our sankalpa on group chandi, i have been doing Navarna vidhi everyday during my puja, and i would like to do that as long as i can, would this interfear with this sankalpa ?for example can i do navarna vidhi and then read kavach for first week? and so on > , secondly are we reading the verses in sanskrute or we are reading the explanation to understand more. > > jai maa > sanju > > Latha Nanda <lathananda> wrote: > GREAT NEWS ALL Y'ALL !!!! > > I heard back from Swamiji regarding the Purascharana and the Chandi. > > Here is what he has to say, when I mentioned our plans to Him. > > Swamiji says : > > "I love the idea! > > Actually Purascharana means "Prefatory rite," something that we do > "Before" the "Main Event."
