Guest guest
Namaste All, There have been some questions around what we are planning to do - I want to address them here 1) The start date ----When is Hanuman Jayanti ? Should we start on 4th Apr - Purnima or Hanuman Jayanti - I am going to ask Swamiji and get back to you soon. 2) What Purascharana are we doing ? Swamiji has approved our original suggestion of Om Namah Shivaya - 10 malas before doing one chapter from Chandi. Some of you expressed a preference for other mantras. All I can say is that you should choose WHATEVER mantra that works for you. Personally, I am going by the original suggestion of Om Namah Shivaya. If you DONT want to do a mantra japa before learning the one chapter, that is FINE too. We are going to be doing this for more than 4 months and so you should take the sankalpa that works for you individually. It would be nice to know before we begin , how many of us are going to Purascharana of Om Namah Shivaya, Navarna etc. Just to inform Swamiji . 3) Sanju's question regarding - whether he can continue to do the Navarnah Viddhih. SURE . This is a sankalpa that we are taking so that we can rely on the group's momentum to help us all achieve our common goals of doing mantra japa and learning Chandi at the same time. It is not meant to replace your existing sadhanas. Please continue to do whatever form of tapasya that you are doing now. 4) Reading from Sanskrit versus reading the English transliteration and translation. Again - we want to make this sankalpa useful and meaningful for each of us. We are all at different levels , and for some the sankalpa may mean learning to read from the Devnagari script, and for some just to be able to read the transliteration would be an achievement. But for all, remember the final goal is to absorb the meaning in our everyday lives. So my humble recommendation would be to also try to understand the meanings of the verses. If not all, atleast to get an overall idea. Hope that helps. And I will get back to the group on the start date so that we are all in sync. I am going to start another poll *grin* to see what mantra each of us are planning to do as part of the Purascharana. Please vote for your mantra so that I can forward it to Swamiji and let him know our final decisions. JAI MAAAAAA Latha
