Guest guest
jeff, i am holding on as hard as i can! i asked maa to accelerate my sadhana recently, and received a boatload of karma-relieving challenges! aiiieeee!!!! increasing sadhana ... do you mean, something like the way swamiji extended his asan ... like, now i do 2 hrs a day of sadhana minimum, next month 2.25 hours per day ... that sort of thing? i have tried often to reduce sleep, and always i bounce back, because i get too tired. what is the trick on this, if there is one? have you been able to gradually reduce this? how far can you go with it? i seem stuck at needing 6-8 hours average without fatigue. i can say for sure, i have more energy since i started this sadhana. less energy going into emotions and karmic reactions. i am reducing time-wasters, and increasing sadhana, japa, etc., as a general rule. when you say a goal, you mean, sitting down and saying, i will increase this and that, decrease tv, etc ... they are explicit goals that support the "master goal?" do you personally always sankalpa them or ... ? one more question ... how much do you differentiate between hard and soft sadhana [if i can say that] ... iow, difficult asans and japa, [can be hard if extended] and study of sanskrit [soft]. or is this wrong thinking? thanks for working with us on this jeff, steve , "devnath9" <devnath@s...> wrote: > , "bingo_ridley" <sconnor@a...> wrote: > > devnath9, > > > how does one do this, if you are responsible for a family, etc? > > 1. sleep less > 2. get up earlier > 3. gradually increase the sadhana each month -- morning, noon, evening, > night > > have a goal, make a plan > > make a Divine Family > > She will organize it if you sincerely want it > > hang on for the ride!!! Guest guest
Rather than increase or decrease sleep why not simply improve the sadhanna we are currently doing. If we become ever more conscious of the Goddess, that would probably render us sufficient increases in energy to lift our lives into the realms of the Gods/Goddesses. , "Mike Jamieson" <mdj1950> wrote: > , "bingo_ridley" <sconnor@a...> > wrote: > Why is reducing sleep something one should do? Guest guest
hi mike, i don't think it's necessary at all for everyone, however, certain people have some sort of sadhu inclination. a few times in my life i felt an almost total focus and commitment to doing one thing well. every inch of time [i know i mixed a meta- for] wants to be used to the utmost. it is like cleaning leaves out of a gutter. you want to be thorough until each leaf is gone and water gushes through 100%. or, it is like wood shedding. ever hear that term? it means, practicing a guitar, secluding yourself, getting better and better. each hour you work, there is a step forward. you get keener and more aware of the implications of any work you do. so in this state of mind, one might wish to decrease sleep, and anything else that is a distraction to one's primary activity. peace, steve , "Mike Jamieson" <mdj1950> wrote: > , "bingo_ridley" <sconnor@a...> > wrote: > Why is reducing sleep something one should do?
