Dear KalaChandra , Querida KalaChandra, There are 2 different systems to measure the lunar months . Existem dois sistemas diferentes para medir os meses lunares. One of them is the amanta or mukhya mana, and it starts and finishes every new moon ( amavasya ). Um deles é conhecido por amanta ou mukhya mana, que começa e termina todas as luas novas ( amavasya ). The other is the purnimanta or gauna mana, and it starts and finishes every full moon ( purnimasya ). O outro é o purnimanta ou gauna mana, que começa e termina toda lua cheia . Most calendars including those of vedic astrology use the former. A maioria dos calendários, inclusive aqueles de astrologia védica usam o primeiro. Vaisakha starts on april 19th .
