This is the Ratri Suktam from the Vedas. It begins with "Om Ratriti Suktasya Kushikah Rsi Ratrir Devata ..... " The Ata Tantroktam Ratri Suktam - on Page 90 - your question Steve - is also a Ratri Suktam but it is derived from Chapter 1 of the Chandi. We will be covering this when we move to Chapter 1 in 2 weeks. The chapter that we are in , praises the Night of Duality. Swamiji said, "The Night of Duality exposes Her sister the Dawning Light. Were it not for the darkness, we would never know the light. That is why She is worthy of praise. Another reason is that in the song of praise, She becomes ours. The Darkness of ignorance has come under control and has departed.
