Guest guest
What does the Ratri Suktam mean to you ? I read the Ratri Suktam (page 86 to 88 of the Chandi Path) to see what I could get out of it . What does it mean to me ? Swamiji says that She - the Night of Duality - is the object of desperate search . How I search and search for the answers in the darkness. I get entangled and identified with the wolves of confusion and egotism . In the darkness , I identify with the grief ,illusion and other 'thieves' . But when the Dawning Light, the Goddess who comes , the Darkness departs, and I can see clearly now the rain is gone Does that means that the wolves dont exist anymore ? No .... they still do, only that in the presence of the Light , I see them different from me, and I dont identify with them anymore. I only see Her - the Darkness of Duality - as a witness (verse 4) I am not .... I am NOT ... all those thieves, all that confusion, all that illusion... I AM NOT. Is that why they said 'Neti Neti ' - Not this , not that ? Jai Maa. I urge you all to read and absorb the English translation of the Ratri Suktam . Guest guest
Dear Latha, This is so beautiful. The great hope is that this Darkness will part. This morning while commuting to work I was listening to the beautiful voice of maa singing sidh Kunjika strotam but you know the asuras. I could focus for a few minutes and there goes my mind again rattling on. As I looked up I just read on the back of a big truck- "You are always on my mind". I never notice these things but today I did. Couple of miles later I am reading on the back of another truck ( it seemed that these words just popped in my view)- "I have a Dream ", " Keep it Flying". I just feel that Maa communicates in amazing ways. Ruchi Latha Nanda [lathananda] Wednesday, April 14, 2004 11:31 AM The problem existed only because of the darkness. Guest guest
another related possibility exists. that realm of do they exist or not is open to question. perhaps they [the wolves] exist as mind only. amazing. pranams to the mother for showing us this. so to tear off from that suffering even more decisively, we do not even leave a shred of their existence behind, saying they exist, but we are not paying them any mind. all i know is, i am going to god. what exists or evaporates is not my concern. om tat sat lathananda, bless you 1,000,000 x for all the help you are givins us here. hmmm ... the night of duality. what a beautiful phrase. the night will end. it is night that makes the dawning of the morning so beautiful, or we would not know the transition. thank you. we will "make it" to the end [of our spiritual course] says swamiji and maa at the end of her biography. for this assurance i am ever- grateful. steve , "Latha Nanda" <lathananda> wrote: > What does the Ratri Suktam mean to you ? > > I read the Ratri Suktam (page 86 to 88 of the Chandi Path) to see > what I could get out of it . Guest guest
The wolves being pact animals have voracious appetites. As the Goddess of the Dawn arrives wolves are dispelled, yet they will aways regather wherever there are shadows. At nightfall they return to close in on their prey. So as not to be eaten the sadak must continually return to spiritual practices or better yet never leave them. Avoid being torn to sheds by the wolves. Survive the dark night so as to puja with the coming of the dawn. , "Latha Nanda" <lathananda> wrote: > What does the Ratri Suktam mean to you ? > > I read the Ratri Suktam (page 86 to 88 of the Chandi Path) to see > what I could get out of it .
