Guest guest
Dear Steve, That is the Cosmic Altar at the Devi Mandir at Napa. Shree Maa and Swamiji created all the murtis from clay and straw with their own hands. Then they painted them in great and glorious detail and they dress them up fresh for all the festivals. They started creating the murtis as soon as they got to California and moved them from temple to temple until they found their home in Napa. When I first took their darshan in the temple in Martinez, CA I was overwhelmed at their beauty and their radiance. I knew that I was home. Guest guest
Shree Maa and Swamiji are very down to earth Gurus. They don't expect anything from their disciples or devotees that they do not do themselves. Swamiji drove the tractor that cleared the roads and laid the gravel. He digs ditches and cuts wood for homa. Maa helps paint the temple. They both wrote mantras on many of the boulders that border the creek. Maa cooks and sews and does laundry. They are very hard-working in their effort to build and maintain the ashram and temples. Swamiji does an incredible amount of work in translating and writing. Maa works on creating all her music and recording it. Maa has created beautiful clothing for her disciples. This is all in addition to the many, many hours they spend in their personal sadhana and meditation. Then there is their service to the Hindu community, performing marriages, public pujas and homas, satsang and teaching. I have never known any beings who do so much all the time and it is all for the benefit of All. Guest guest
I tried to scan it but it wouldn't scan because of the dark paper it was printed on. I made a copy and will put it in the mail tomorrow. I was surprised to see the address on the top, Martinez, CA. The Devi Mandir moved to Napa in Spring 1993. So this is a vintage copy. : > "bingo_ridley" <sconnor (AT) austin (DOT) rr.com> Tue, 20 Apr 2004 00:19:45 -0000 Re: images in the photo section -- latha, parvati, anyone? ardis, i would love to read that! thank you! steve , Ardis Jackson <anandamama@e...> wrote: > Did you ever read the description of the Cosmic Altar?
