Guest guest
brian i thought you might like this, it is from a little daily Q&A quote i get in e-mail from baba hari dass ... i know, i could relate ... he is a sadhu from santa cruz, california ... here it is: Q: When I am about to have a negative thought about someone, is there anything I can do to stop that thought? A: The mind enjoys its negativities because there is violence. The mind, by nature, goes toward violence. If negativity starts and you identify it as violence, then you can stop it. - Gateways, May '88 ===== , "Brian McKee" <brian@s...> wrote: > I was driving to work this morning, thinking un-nice thoughts about other drivers who simply don't have good habits, when I remembered that the Goddess is everywhere (that's one of Shree Maa's books I think) and that if I'm resenting others, I'm resenting her and the reality she created from herself for me. That rememberence made me desire love for the other drivers. How do we remember that Maa is everywhere and everything? What good habits can we develop and what things can we do to to feel her grace all the time? Puja helps the internal bhava, but how do we bring that bhava into our daily lives? Guest guest
Dear Brian, I hope others will chime in with their comments as well, but here is my take on your question. IMHO , when we live in the relative world, we have to think and do what is necessary. In the relative world, I do not always like every one, I do not always get along with everyone , so why should I expect to love everyone ? And worse, why should I feel disappointed in myself for expecting to love everyone and falling short of my own projection ? So then, does it mean that I give vent to all my dislikes and fears ? That is where She steps in. I acknowledge to the Goddess that only She alone can take the power away from the thought that is harassing me - even if the thought is a noble one of wanting to love and understand more. I go to the Goddess , warts and all, and do my sadhana with as much sincerity that I am capable of . Let her take care of whether my anger should stay or go. I believe Sadhana puts us into a different frequency of mind - that when tapped into gives us SOOOO much strength and consequently more tolerance towards others . It is like , the same bugs exist, but I am now immune because of a stronger constitution.( Or I have Norton Anti Virus running in my system and so no worms can infect me ) It is like what you said in an earlier post , allow Consciousness to fill in. And that , for me atleast, happens when I do Sadhana and am so full of strength that I can forgive anyone's trespasses. Guest guest
Stay in the bhava. Try to continually live within it. Short of that re-create it through daily practice. When things go wrong intensify your sadanna. Remember that all those people out there in duality are parts of ourselves. It says so in the Rudri. Traffic conditions can be aggravating. This should give us all the more reason to ever return to our spiritual practices. , "Brian McKee" <brian@s...> wrote: > I was driving to work this morning, thinking un-nice thoughts about other drivers who simply don't have good habits, when I remembered that the Goddess is everywhere (that's one of Shree Maa's books I think) and that if I'm resenting others, I'm resenting her and the reality she created from herself for me.
