Guest guest
That is true. All that we need to do is reach deeply within to relocate that Goddess which we so often install. She is there inside of those who worship her. At noonday I was not feeling well, but on sitting down to 50 malas of japa in asanna and prannayam I once again reached that realm of peace. I must quest for this again and again. Wise ones reach it and never leave it. For me continual efforts are required. , "Steve Connor" <sconnor@a...> wrote: > in design, this is called a "reiterative process" ... iow, it > requires repeated application, reviews, and revisions to be > successful. > > i like what nisargadatta said when asked why he did bhajans every > day. the answer: > > "my guru asked me to." > > steve > > > > , "Latha Nanda" <lathananda> > wrote: > > Nisargadatta Maharaj, when asked , how his life changed from that > of > > an ordinary shopkeeper to a realized person, replied that he had > met > > a Guru, taken his advice to heart and practiced unceasingly for > three > > years, at the end of which he attained self-realization. > > > > How simple he made it look ! > > > > Perhaps it IS that simple and I make it complicated ! > > > > In the Sadhana Panchakam it says "Whenever possible seek out the > > company of the true and knowledgeable people, and serve the > sandals > > of their lotus feet, and ask from them even ONE letter of > knowledge > > of Brahman and listen to the great words of wisdom from the Vedas" > > > > So Step 1 - getting the mantra from a saint is completed. Guest guest
OM NAMAH SHIVAYA For me the biggest lesson has been to set the ego aside and listen to the Guru within so that as "an ordinary shopkeeper" be able to listen to the Guru within, "take his advice to heart and practice unceasingly" until attainment of Self-realization. Thank you Latha for the story. I agree it is simple once the ego is out of the picture and the surrendering process moves in. OM NAMAH SHIVAYA , "rudran2" <stechiekov> wrote: > That is true. Guest guest
Latha, I constantly struggle with the tamasic tendencies in my personality. Even with all I get from my practice, I still put it off and struggle with the desire to do something else - anything else. I frankly don't understand it, but I've grown used to it. Those rare (seems like it anyway) times when the struggle is gone are just wonderful, and I pray for that day when the struggle will be no more. Guest guest
Namaste Chris, I know what you mean because I face the same challenge and lots of tamasic tendencies . I know the benefits but find myself putting off the practice too. I find that once I get going I keep going ...law of inertia I guess. And I start on SMALL things to keep myself going. 1 round of maala , or finish the puja in 10 mins or start very small... And I tell myself that it is perfectly OK if I dont want to keep going after 1 round of maala. The way I look at it, if I feel I have made even a small achievement then I have the fuel to go towards doing more, and even if I dont, I have achieved what the goal was for the day anyway. Small things .... and they add up. Maybe thats why Swamiji asks us to expand our puja or asana by 5 mins every month. Guest guest
hm, that's a good way to look at it. another thing to review for ourselves is our expectations of some final state of realization, and if that idea is working for us or against us. we might be realized a billion times, or once, or reaching towards it eternally, or realize at death. the main thing is that concept, if it is used, encourages us and does not defeat us. steve , "Latha Nanda" <lathananda> wrote: > Namaste Chris, > I know what you mean because I face the same challenge and lots of > tamasic tendencies . Guest guest
Latha, I couldn't agree more. Even small things create large grooves over the course of time. In sadhana, nothing is lost. But one must make the comittment to do something every day.
