Hi everyone, we are Belial and Sabrina, new members. Had a

very curteous invitation to visit this web-site and then join. We

must read these messages for awhile before we make comments. But

let us add that we came (or at least I did, Belial) into contact

with the Hindu religion through the writings of Paramahansa

Yogananda, about all that we know about it. Best wishes to everyone.

Welcome Belial and Sabrina,

(No, I didn't invite you either...) I sincerely hope you find your

heart's desire in the grace and devotion represented in these pages,

and more especially, in the divinity that inspires them.

You'll find the teachings here quite different than the path of yoga,

though yogic disciplines are part of the discipline here, too. The

focus here is on the systems of worship, through which we come to

fully realize the presence of the divine, in our hearts and in the

world. It is a path of devotion, foremost, but it is also systematic

and powerful.

Shree Maa and Swamiji are our examples and our guides. They are both

highly advanced and compassionate, worthy of devotion, and constantly

(I believe) engaged in helping (on a subtle level) those of us who

practice their teachings with a pure desire to worship and realize

God.

Divine Mother's blessings to you both.

Chris

it is their business, and none of them (the men) have ever harmed me

in any way, but if taking on the characteristics and actions of a

female Goddess is a prerequisite for this group, then I respect you,

but think I and we (meaning Sabrina, the teen-aged witch) need to

contact a more male oriented group if we are to experience Hinduism.

Dear Bob,

Thanks for your response and concern. You are right about the

HER just being an emphasis. The " HER" was referring to the

creative aspect of the eternal source. The gender was meant to

be more of a descriptive association. The eternal source is

beyond gender and encompasses all of creation. Thank you for

your respect. The only prerequisite for this group is to know that

you are alive. God bless you with pure devotion and wisdom.

I think that some members write of a very spiritual person that

is the leader? Could you tell me more of him or her? I have found

Hindu teachers very god/goddess oriented in the past, and only live a

life of love and devotion to helping humanity. I would like to study

these teachings, but being a new member, some of the terminology is

beyond me.

Dear Bob,

I hope Parvati (whose reply below you liked) can help answer

regarding the mantra that you are looking for. She is the senior

disciple of Shree Maa and Swami Satyananda Saraswati - you can find

out all about them at http://www.shreemaa.org.

But in brief, here are their Bios

Shree Maa is an Indian saint who performed extreme austerities in

the Himalayan foothills. She wandered throughout India for several

years worshipping in temples, forests, and homes. Inspired by her

Guru Ramakrishna, she moved to the USA to share divine love and

teach the meaning of Dharma.

She has a honey like voice - you can hear samples of Maa's songs at

http://www.shreemaa.org/media.htm

Swami Satyananda Saraswati, aka simply as Swamiji, spent several

years in the Himalayas. He learned Sanskrit and many of the local

languages along the way. He was initiated into the worship of Chandi

and fire ceremony. He has translated numerous ancient books from

Sanskrit to English. You can check out the books that are available

at http://www.shreemaa.org/bookstore.htm

Bob, you mentioned that you "hit the ground running" and you were

looking for ways to get your work done appropriately. It hit home,

because I am on call a lot too . One of the things that Swamiji

keeps telling us is to learn to improve our efficiency. If you look

at the mission statement of the group , you would see "Our goal is

to create the desire in you to follow the example of the Sadhus (the

efficient ones ) and the rishis ( the wise ones). " We are all

working towards optimum efficiency , and is there one mantra that

can do it for us ? I dont know, but I sure do know that if we keep

worship as the goal of our lives, we will start working in such a

way that we get our lives in order so that we can focus more on our

practices .

Thus efficiency is established , not as an end unto itself, but as a

means to reach your goal of worship.

If you really would like to learn some of these teachings, we are

here to help where we can to clarify on terminology. Please do not

hesitate to ask questions - anything asked with the attitude of

learning and sincere respect is more than welcome. We look forward

to hearing from you and anyone else here with similar questions.

Best Wishes

Latha - the moderator that invited you :-)

Could someone out there give me a mantra for the ability to get

To learn of our teachers, Shree Maa, a holy woman from India, and

Swamiji (Swami Satyananda Saraswati) a holy man born in America who

lived twenty years in India, look at their site <shreemaa.org>. They

live in Napa, CA at their temple, the Devi Mandir. Devi Mandir means

a temple dedicated to the Goddess.

Re: Re: New Member

I'll have to admit I really liked that reply. According to

everything I've studied, and learned personally, the supreme being

must be above gender. Everything I've seen and heard about this

group so far I've found extremely admirable. I have even come into

contact with Hindu believers in this Kansas City, and other places,

over a period of many years, and have always found true followers are

filled with a desire towards light and love. Now I have a question.

I have to "hit the ground running" when my boss calls me to work at

times, and I am almost literally on call 24 hours a day. Could

someone out there give me a mantra for the ability to get things done

appropriately? If so I would certainly appreciate it.

I think that some members write of a very spiritual person that is

the leader? Could you tell me more of him or her? I have found Hindu

teachers very god/goddess oriented in the past, and only live a life

of love and devotion to helping humanity. I would like to study

these teachings, but being a new member, some of the terminology is

beyond me.

Know that we only wish light and love for all of you,

Dear Bob,

Thanks for your response and concern. You are right about the

HER just being an emphasis. The " HER" was referring to the

creative aspect of the eternal source. The gender was meant to

be more of a descriptive association. The eternal source is

beyond gender and encompasses all of creation. Thank you for

your respect. The only prerequisite for this group is to know that

you are alive. God bless you with pure devotion and wisdom.

Namaste and Welcome,

>From my perspective there is no gender for the creator. The creator

created gender and would thus have to be both genders.

When I speak of consciousness, I think of her as the creator of the

universe and thus it suits me to think of her as mother, literally giving

birth to creation.

When I talk of becoming like Maa, I mean learning to love

unconditionally, to forgive absolutely, and to accept all that creation

manifests in my life.

God loves us. Period. There are no ifs ands or buts. We should love each

other the way she loves us, the way a mother should love a

child.

Consciousness, the space between the thoughts, is neither masculine or

feminine, and yet, like a globe can be viewed from many perspectives.

Each perspective has its own unique qualities.

So the Hindus have created a system of classification for the various

aspects of god and assigned very meaningful names to them in an attempt

to pelt devotees with enough mental understanding to cause a spontaneous

awakening (that is coming to awareness) of consciousness.

Personally, my deity is Maha Maya, and my path basically Karma Yoga. I

learn from mother through her mechanisms, through the creation that tests

our awareness of awareness.

There is a lot of wonderful things to absorb from this teaching, please

don't pass it by due to a misunderstanding of the word

"Maa."

Welcome once again and Goddess Bless,

Brian

Welcome Belial and Sabrina,

You'll find the teachings here quite different than the path of yoga,

though yogic disciplines are part of the discipline here, too. The

focus here is on the systems of worship, through which we come to

fully realize the presence of the divine, in our hearts and in the

world. It is a path of devotion, foremost, but it is also systematic

Shree Maa and Swamiji are our examples and our guides. They are both

practice their teachings with a pure desire to worship and realize

God.

Divine Mother's blessings to you both.
