Guest guest
I read in Rosie's bio (in the database section) how Maa asked her to write her understanding of Puja, and I decided to give that a try with Chapter 1 of the Chandi. For me , Chapter 1 can be distilled to a few verses - 44 and 45. and 53,54 and 57. Verse 44 and 45 state the problem Verse 53, and 54 state who is the cause of the problem Verse 57 states the solution to the problem. Swamiji translates in verses 44 and 45 "Even though we see the defects in our contemplations , nevertheless our minds are drawn into attachment and egotism. What is it, Oh Exalted One, that causes this ignorance, even in the presence of our wisdom and understanding?" and "He and I are as fools without the capacity of discrimination" Maa says "The Chandi is the story of my life ". Well dear Maa, the Chandi is the story of my life too. How often I am like the King and Businessman of the Chandi, who were mourning for the things that they had left behind, and unable to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the present moment. How often I am helplessly watching my mind go on a trip, unable to bring it back to the present moment. Even in the presence of wisdom and understanding, my mind is drawn into attachment and egotism , as though I am like a fool without the capacity of discrimination. OK, so that is the present situation ... and Swamiji translates in verses 53 and 54 , this is all due to Mahamaya - the Great Measurement of Consciousness. He translates "People are hurled into the whirlpool of attachment and the pit of delusion by the Great Measurement of Consciousness, who is the cause of the circumstance of all objects in the creation and of their relationships" And the good news is , the Chandi also offers the solution - this situation can change - in verse 57 "..it is She (the Great Measurement of Consciousness) who , after satisfaction, bestows upon humans the blessing of liberation. It is She who is the cause of the liberation of Consciousness.." "After satisfaction " is the operative phrase ....our Surrender to Her ....and that is what Sadhana is all about - setting the discipline, doing the practices ... and all the drama of not being able to practice and falling back into the whirlpool, picking myself back up, and starting all over ...but keeping myself on the path whether I am stuck or going forward, keeping myself in the path to know YOU .
