It is a good idea to avoid stainless steel items if possible.

Silver is a better alternative.

Offering naivedya in silver dishes is better if one can afford.

I once came across a list of items that are to be offered to Shiva

each day of the week. I dont recall anything from it or the source

right now.

One may consider offering to others as prasad if they cant consume

it.

Go for Silver dishes only if you have any Shiva mantra properly

initiated and if you received a shiva linga from your teacher or had

it custom made and consecrated by your teacher, or if a Shiva linga

or any devata pratima with prana pratishta etc is passed on to you.

Otherwise it wont make any difference.

Btw, I saw Om namah Shivaya being used in pujas.

Panchakshari has two differeent forms.

Namah Shivaya is panchakshari mantra only for Brahmana, Kshatriya

and Vaishya males. For ppl of 4 th caste, those indians who are not

in caste system, all non-indians and women, panchakshari mantra is

Shivaya namah and not Namah Shivaya.

The above can be verified from Chandra Jnana agama, Shiva purana,

Suta samhita, in *numerous* tantras(ex: Kularanava,

Srividyarnava...) and in almost every major book on mantra shastra

which deals with Panchakshari.

Namaste Satish,

Thank you for your suggestions, also the research with respect to

the different kinds of Panchakshari. I will forward your research to

Swamiji and request his comments.

But who really is a Brahman(a)? Truthfully, only one who knows Brahman is a Brahmana.

I share your opinion Surya.

Satish, fyi, Swamiji has said that what you have suggested below is

not in keeping with our teachings. Hope this closes out that chapter.

Thank you .

Namaste Saswati,

Can you please check the FAQ in our database section of the group

for answers to your question.

You will find out the lunar month and day from a lunar calendar

specific for your location. We have uploaded one for the SF Bay area

in the Files section, which you can use as your reference.

If you need more clarifications , please dont hesitate to ask.
