Guest guest
Namaste All, Now that we have all learned chapter 1 of the Chandi , hope that we have the knowledge and insight into this question from Swamiji Jai Maa Latha Swamiji asks : How is it that the Destroyers of Worship, even though fewer in numbers, can make Good Thoughts flee to the forest? Guest guest
as i understand it from chapter one, it is due to the on-going presence of greed and attachment and the expectations of reciprocity in humans. this is precisely what struck me about chapter one ... how could good thoughts be defeated? intuitively i would say, we need more than good thoughts, but also, we cannot do without good thoughts. it must be our intent. this must be pure and bright and clear. the thoughts are manifestations of the intent. but without intent where are we? and where does this intent come from? the goddess herself. i rest my case! ;-) steve , "Latha Nanda" <lathananda> wrote: > Namaste All, > > Now that we have all learned chapter 1 of the Chandi , hope that > we have the knowledge and insight into this question from Swamiji > > Jai Maa > Latha > > Swamiji asks : > > How is it that the Destroyers of Worship, even though fewer in > numbers, can make Good Thoughts flee to the forest? Guest guest
The destroyers of worship have divergence and duality on their side, so we must concentrate well during our puja to overcome them. Guest guest
The short answer is, because Supreme Consciousness is asleep. But it occurs to me that the whole answer is to tell the entire tale of the Chandi Paath (backward). It is interesting that the Chandi begins with the Destroyers of Worship, then returns, through the story told by the rishi, to the very beginning of time. It is as if Markandeya is saying that, "Here is how we became the way that we are, and how we can return to that which we truly are, but first, one must understand that worship is central, for without worship to help one retain sovereignty over one's self, the asuras will drive out even those good thoughts we retain." Worship is the center of the circle of either decline or ascent, determined by its presence or absence. When Too Much and Too Little approach the Creative Capacity to murder him, he seeks to awaken Consciousness with "...one-pointed attention...praise(ing) Divine Union from his heart." He worships her. That said, I must confess, I don't understand the Chandi at all yet. It is much too figurative, complex, and many-layered for my brief relationship. Guest guest
hm that sounds pretty good chris. i have seen spiritually minded people who have declined to worship. i have been one. there is something about keeping that sacred feeling, that bhakta, that strengthens and stabilizes jnana ... iow, keeps it from being toppled and run off into the forest. steve , "Chris Kirner" <chriskirner1956> wrote: > The short answer is, because Supreme Consciousness is asleep. Guest guest
Namaste! Because we cannot give up almost all. We must give up all. I have heard Swamiji say, When one of the gods is present, then they will all be present, and when one of the gods is absent, then they will all be absent. Even one negativity is enough, Maya is so strong, it says. Guest guest
Destroyers of Worship are like Lay's potato chips' motto, "Bet you can't eat just one!" One chip. Very powerful. > Swamiji asks : > > How is it that the Destroyers of Worship, even though fewer in > numbers, can make Good Thoughts flee to the forest? Guest guest
Dear Swamiji, The destroyers of worship are the 6 ripus - Kam - Desire, Krodh - Anger, Lobh- Greed, Moh - ignorance, Modha - foolishness, Matsarya - jealousy. The destroyers of worship when compared to good thoughts , are like a drop of poison to a glass of milk. Even a single drop is enough to ruin all the good accumulated. Another way to look at it is , when a single bad thought enters our mind, it takes center stage and makes us focus on this thought to the exclusion of all the good thoughts. It literally pushes the good thoughts "into the forest" and absorbs all our attention. Thank you for your question. Dear Karen and Mike/ Steve, Since we are talking in ad-land. If destroyers of worship are like 'Lay's potato chips' , why is Sadhana like Nike ? Just Do It . Tee Hee.
