I was flying back from NY to SF - a daytime flight and slept until

my first stopover at Cincinnati. I had about 4 hrs to kill from

Cincinnati to SF , my magazines were boring, my seatmate

unfriendly , the on board movie uninspiring ...

So stifling a yawn, I looked up again at the TV screen in front of

me. They showed the position of the plane from time to time, and

when I looked we were flying between St.Hugo and Sunflower -

improbable names for cities - in Kansas . I still had about 2 hrs

and 45 minutes to go.

I was getting restless and then I realized that the flight time

left - 2 hrs and 45 mins - was exactly the duration of an entire

Chandi recitation done at a leisure pace of 2 verses per breath.

And the happy thought came. Why not ?

So with a sudden burst of energy I took up my Chandi and started

chanting. Thankfully the sounds of the engine drowned my drone and

so no one was impacted, including the lady behind me who was

laughing hysterically at the on-board movie. The only time I was

disturbed was to accept a drink of coffee from the attendant.

I finished the Pranamah just as we were taxi-ing into SF airport. I

drank the by-then cold coffee charged with the Chandi vibrations as

prasad.

This one will go into my memoirs - Strange Places that I have

chanted the Chandi in.

Not as strange as someone I know that chanted in Sears (or was it JC

Penney ) to complete his sankalpa.

Jai Maa !
