Guest guest
Tonight we chanted chapter 5 of the Chandi with Swamiji. He mentioned the importance of verses 81 and 82. "In days of old, all of the Gods led by Indra, the Rule of the Pure, sang these verses of praise for the purpose of accomplishing their desired objective of surrendering the ego in light of Wisdom, and for many days that service was rendered. May She, the Seer of All, the Lord of All, the Source of All Good, perform similarly for us all auspicious things by putting an end to all distress." We Gods have been harassed by arrogant thoughts in t he manner of men, and at this time all of us Gods bow to the Seer of All, who when bowed to with devotion, and remembered in a physical image, immediately terminates our every adversity." Swamiji said that the Gods had a strength of purpose in reciting these praises which was to "surrender the ego in light of Wisdom." Having taken on human bodies we have become habituated to acting like humans, harassed by arrogant thoughts. In this manner we have forgotten our true nature, which is truly divine. And if the Goddess put an end to the Gods' distress certainly she will do the same for us!
